Dragons game has been postponed... BTW, I didn't make it out of West Chester (decided to eat something at McAlister's) and tuned in the game in the parking lot and the announcement was made.

For those, like me, who had tickets for today's game - the game will be part of a day/night doubleheader this coming Saturday (17th) at noon - you do not have to exchange your tickets.

Looks like I'll have a Dragons-Reds day/night doubleheader that day!:beerme:

Cameron Maybin homered against the Lookouts.

He is really struggling for a super prospect in AA. .240+ BA and .770+ OPS doesn't sound to hot. I'll take Jay Bruce's struggles in AAA over that anyday. Maybin has been striking out a ton too. 49 times already this year.

Maybin is the Homer Bailey of offensive players.

Not close. Bailey needs fine tuning. Maybin needs to learn how to be a baseball player.

Bailey needs more than fine tuning. He needs to get his moxy back and junk the pitch to contact bs.

The Reds have really messed Bailey up. Krivsky is probably the main reason with his "throw strikes" crap. But he is gone and I think a overhaul in that regard is needed.

Bailey needs to get back to throwing consistant mid-90's heat and not always worrying where the ball will go. That 91-92mph crap is getting slammed.

He also needs to fully develope his changeup which is more desire. He has to want to practice and put the time in to develope that pitch. So far, his efforts(we already had a long discussion on his bad partying habits) have been lukewarm though and he has backslid his last 2 starts.

Location is far more important than velocity.

I disagree. Homer can't win throwing 91-92mph. He struggled in high A before they let him go hard in June 2 years ago. He gave up about 8-9 hits last night that probably would have been avoided if he was throwing harder. How many more walks may he have given up? Maybe less. That is the point. Throwing with less velocity so you can get better control alot of times does the opposite. It is the defeatist culture of Reds baseball that continues on. They simply don't get it.

ask johnny cueto how 94-96 in the middle of the plate works out in the bigs.

So Bailey needs to acquire 'moxy'.

Cameron Maybin needs to learn how to hit the ball. He has a line drive rate for his entire career that is absolutely pathetic. For a supposed guy with power, his line drive rate is along the lines of Jose Castro. If his groundball rates were a pitcher, he would be Brandon Webb. Then there is the fact he strikes out like his name is BJ Szymanski.

But yeah, thats a strong comparison between what Bailey needs to learn and what Maybin needs to learn.

To add to my previous post...

Super Prospect Colby Rasmus is performing even worse than Maybin albeit at AAA. .193 BA, .286 OBP, .321 SLG, and a whopping .607 OPS. Jay Bruce has 2 less hits than Rasmus has total bases despite Bruce having 9 less ABs than Rasmus.

Rasmus will be fine in time. The Cardinals have him trying to hit the ball the other way this year. So far its messing up his game. He is hitting the ball on the ground quite a bit more than he was last year, hitting a whole lot fewer line drives (which is leading to an 80 point drop in his BABIP from last year). In time he will be fine.

Which is stupid. You don't mess around with somebodies game. You let them flow into a wiser path when the time comes.

Is there an ignore function for posts calling for the stopping of quoting of Aronchis? It is getting far more tedious than anything he says and at least his statements are an opinion on the players. These minor league threads are a great source of information but are getting far worse in terms of backhanded insults than the major league threads ever were. I may not always agree with Aronchis and the huh? factor is sometimes there but his criticism is more interesting to read than the constant criticism of him.

Just look on the person's profile and there should be a link that says "Ignore <User Name>" click that and he should be ignored.

Yes. And still stunned that the twin to his wand was Potter's. He doesn't think life is fair.
