Louisville is down 1-0 in the first but have the bases loaded with no outs in the first. Jay Bruce walked in his first at bat after falling down 1-2. I believe its his first walk against a left hander this year as well. Andy Phillips just hit a sac fly to tie the game up.

Bruce, at this point, has just about defeated AAA. He is ready.

Guttierez should come up to AAA to replace Bruce. I think he has played some outfield. Gut has defeated AA. His OBP is approaching .500.

Dorn just got back, but soon he'll be ready to move back to AA to take over for Gut.

I know people are counting on Stubbs in the near future, but I think Dorn is one of those guys people are overlooking, along with Heisey (SP?) when they talk about future OF's in 09. Heisey may be an 2010 guy, but if Dorn can get his bat back to what it was last year, I think this guy can be a LF for the Reds in 09. But, since I am only basing this on his stats, maybe those who actually follow these 2 can fill me in a little more.

As I've previously mentioned, my target walk rate for Bruce in AAA is one walk every 12 PAs. With his two walks today so far, he's at one walk every 13.54 plate appearances (last season and this season combined). He's knocking on the door of my target walk rate, and that's exactly what I've been wanting to see.

I still think as Bruce continues to rip the cover off the ball, he will get pitched around a little more. As that happens, he will draw more walks. The kid understands the zone fairly well. He isn't a hacker despite what his lack of walks might suggest.

Easily. When he hit that double I thought it was gone off the bat. That thing was absolutely destroyed. He squares the ball up better than any prospect I have ever seen (not that I have seen a ton of prospects, I am barely 24.... but he puts the fat part of the bat on the baseball more than anyone I have seen in the minor leagues).

Bruce is only a single shy of the cycle. Unfortunately it appears he won't get a chance because the 7-8-9 hittersare due up in the 8th inning and with a 11-1 lead they won't bat in the 9th unless Gary Majewski pitches.

I want to know what the FO people see that with? Keppinger doesn't strike out. Valaika strikes out about 3-4 times as much as Keppinger does. While that rate is still plenty acceptable, that is a huge difference between the two. Both guys do use the whole field and Valaika certainly has more power.

Enjoyed the Louisville game today, although I had to move because the stadium was filled with yelling kids for education day. My gf and her friend skipped because of the rain, so I decided to go by myself. :)

Coffey needs to stay in AAA for a long time.

Bruce's triple was surprising because the CF badly misplayed his line drive, as he did with other balls hit to him. The CF hit the wall looking terrible on that play.

I thought Bruce's double was hit better than his HR. Hit off the CF/RF gap wall.

Bruce's HR was a nice sharp hit, though it barely went over the left centerfield wall ("Power Alley").

Jay chased after a few off-speed in the dirt, but he got two walks, so that was nice. Phillips and Bo Hall got shelled. Seriously it looked like batting practice pitches just lobbed in there.

I don't know if any of you all watched the game, but what I liked the most was how Bruce played (I believe) Jason Lane's hammered liner off the RF wall off Coffey. He got himself positioned well to play the ball off the wall, and quickly threw a strike to the cut-off man, so Lane had to stay at 1B for the single.

Good game for Lehr again, and nice win against Miley and the Yankees.

Thanks.

DSL season doesn't begin until early to mid June IIRC.

You sayin' Jay Bruce is ugly? Better hope he doesn't hear that, or the Boss is gonna get ya.

Joey Votto was the last person to say that, and he seems to be doing just fine.

I'm pretty sure they dropped this team due to the political nature of Venezuela under Chavez. Maybe I'm wrong, but I swear that I read that somewhere last fall or winter.

Stubbs is now 2-for-4 with a solo HR.

Doesn't matter. I hear he's Bust City.
