If I was Chris Stynes' and Steve Parris' agent, I would give Bowden a call.

Signed IF Pokey Reese to a Minor League contract. He will report to Triple-A Columbus.

Wasn't Pokey MIA for awhile after his departure from Florida. Jimbo sure loves them old Reds. He loves um as much as those leathers pants he wears.

Yep, he actually retired...for about 2 years. :O)

Pokey will be competing with Rey Olmedo for playing time at AAA. :)

I'd sign Pokey to a minor league deal in a second. If he can still field, he's a major leaguer.

Next on Bowden's Bucket List:
Acquire Sean Casey
See what Dave Burba's up to
Acquire Jason LaRue.
Sign Eddie Taubensee

I'm not just goin to defend The Mayor just because he's my favorite player...but here's his numbers right now

G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG
20 62 6 22 7 0 0 8 29 7 4 0 0 .420 .468 .355

I'm not sayin as an everyday starter, but this is a hell of a bat coming off the bench, or to give someone a rest.

And somewhere, emboldened by the news, Pete Harnisch excitedly begins a throwing routine....

How desperate was Pokey to get back into the game.

After all Pokey, you know JimBo is lying if his lips are moving, right?

John Nunally is going to start in right field for them next week. Mark my words. Is Greg Vaughn still around? He could probably get a couple mil from them.

He will........and announce how they just signed their starting CFer for the next 10 years and how great a signing it is. Then say how things are coming together after picking up another starting OFer and SS from the Reds last year. Then he will announce they are changing their name to the Washington Red Stockings.

I might have to start rooting for the Nationals. The only problem is that when these guys were in there prime they couldn't win. How are threy going to win now that they are washed up?

If I were Bowden, I'd go after Chuck McElroy and Thomas Howard. Why not go after Ron Gant too. Damon Berryhill may be available. He'd go great with Tim Pugh. Throw Willie Greene in at third and you may have yourself a decent, albeit, fragile group of washed up Reds. The Nationals could go all the way with the addition of those guys...

Oh man, I remember when the Reds lost a Draft pick for signing Damon Berryhill from the Red Sox...

I am still sour about that one...

Bruce Berenyi is looking to come back and try and lose 20 games. He just missed last time with the Reds.

Maybe Bowden can trade for Scott Williamson and get him back to his ROY Form from 1999.
