Six players exchanged uniforms Tuesday, May 27, with three joining the Dayton Dragons and three moving up to Sarasota of the Florida State League. Joining Dayton are outfielder Anthony Gressick and pitchers Juan Rafael and Steve Otterness. Outfielder Daniel Perales was promoted to Sarasota with pitchers Philippe Valiquette and Enerio Del Rosario.
Gressick was a pitcher with the Dragons last season but has been converted to the outfield, where he went 3-for-22 for Sarasota. Rafael, a rookie last season, had been in extended spring training, while Otterness, a 29th-round draft pick last season, had not allowed a run in five relief appearances (7 2/3 innings) for Sarasota this season.
Perales hit .231 in 11 games for the Dragons while Del Rosario was 2-2 with a 1.59 ERA and four saves. Valiquette, in his fourth season in Dayton, was 0-1 with a 3.12 ERA.
The Dragons open a four-game series at Fort Wayne today and return home Sunday for a 4 p.m. game with West Michigan.
