We typically don't have a time limit but if someone is holding the draft up for a decent period of time then we usually move on.

well in a fantasy draft they have the players rank accordingly 1-however many players there are. In that draft, if a player fails to make their selection they automatically get the top player left on those rankings. so say if we used http://www.redszone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68311 these rankings and at say #5 that person's time passes and the first four picks went with the guys ranked 1-4 being picked, well they automatically get Crow since he is the top guy left. So all players get picked but the team might not get who would be ideal, such as at #5 with the Giants who need a bat,going by those first 4 picks would ideally pick Posey.

The Rockies will select Garrit Cole with the 25th overall pick.

Cole is widely considered the best righthander out of SoCal since Phil Hughes. He throws a four seam fastball that works from 93-96, but has the ability to dial it up to 98. He maintains his velocity and movement late into games - when he makes it that far as he has a tendency to run up pitch counts. This may necessitate a move to the pen down the line, where he might profile as an elite closer. His curve has bite, breaks late and hard. His changup is a work in progress, and he's been using it more as his season has wore on. Part of the appeal with Garrit is his projectability. He's tall and lanky with room to fill out. But he does have some issues, namely with his mechanics - although his maturity has also been called into question by some. He's going to be a work in progress, but the potential reward is huge. And the Rockies are elated to be able to grab his talent this late in round 1.

Scouts debate whether Lawrie is the best Canadian hitting prospect since Justin Morneau or Larry Walker, but he's definitely created buzz in a draft relatively short on high school bats, drawing some comparisons to Craig Biggio. If he had a more defined position, he would be a cinch first-round pick. Signed by Arizona State, Lawrie has too much present hitting ability to wind up in college. One scout compared him to Marlins slugger Dan Uggla for his strength, power and muscular, mature build, and several scouts have graded Lawrie's power as above-average if not 70 on the 20-80 scale. He's not just strong but also has a keen eye, offensive instincts, aggressiveness and quick wrists that drive the bat through the hitting zone. On a spring trip with his Canadian travel teams (Langley, B.C., Blaze and the Canadian junior national team), Lawrie went 21-for-30 against extended spring training and college teams, including 14 extra-base hits. He hit doubles off Kyle Davies and Luke Hochevar in a game against the Royals' extended spring team. Several scouts summed up his offensive approach by describing him as "fearless." He's also athletic with above-average speed (6.75 seconds in the 60). Defense is Lawrie's shortcoming; he plays infield and catcher and also has seen time in the outfield, where one scout described him as "disinterested." He's shown the tools to catch, as he's built for the position at 6 feet and 200 pounds, and he has an average arm at the least. However, his bat might be too advanced for him to take the time to learn such a valuable defensive position, and some scouts doubt that he'd have the temperament to handle it anyway.

During the fall, Seaton pitched at 88-89 mph, wasn't a coveted recruit by Texas colleges and projected as a fifth-round talent. But after throwing 90-94 mph all spring and touching 96, Seaton has leapfrogged several others to establish himself as the Lone Star State's best prep pitching prospect. He features a slider than can range from devastating to flat, and an effective changeup. While his secondary pitches are inconsistent, his control isn't, as he throws strikes with ease. His delivery is smooth and easily repeatable. Big and strong at 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, he's also a quality athlete who will see action as a two-way player if he attends Tulane, following in the tradition of Micah Owings and 2005 Astros first-round pick Brian Bogusevic. As an outfielder, Seaton offers power, arm strength and average to plus speed. A lefthanded hitter, he also has shown the ability to make adjustments at the plate. Nevertheless, he'll focus on pitching if he turns pro. Though he's a good student, Seaton is expected to sign if he's drafted in the early rounds. The Astros have shown a lot of interest in the local product and could target him with their sandwich-round pick at No. 38.

The son of former NFL offensive lineman and current ESPN commentator Mark Schlereth, Daniel Schlereth was an eighth-round pick last year as a draft-eligible sophomore, having missed a year due to Tommy John surgery. Schlereth didn't sign and has come back improved as part of a devastating Arizona bullpen with three of the nation's best power arms. While teammate Ryan Perry figures to be drafted higher this year (and sophomore closer Jason Stoffel should go higher next year), Schlereth was making a case to go in the first two rounds by showing improved command and stuff from 2007. Schlereth finds the strike zone more consistently with his 90-94 mph fastball and at times has more velocity, sometimes sitting 94-96. His power breaking ball is a swing-and-miss pitch, and he's done a better job of throwing it for strikes. After a failed bid as a starter earlier in his career, Schlereth has shown the guts to challenge hitters with his stuff in a relief role and could be the rare lefthanded closer as a pro. The biggest question will be whether or not he can maintain his stuff while improving his control. He'll never have command with the effort he puts into his delivery, but he still doesn't throw as many quality strikes as he'll need to at higher levels. He's expected to be drafted in the first three rounds.

Not that BA is the be all end all, but its a personal preference of mine. Crow's arm is ready to explode. I would stay away from him if it were up to me. He was almost Rick Ankiel-like. Last year in '07 he played CF along with pitching. But he's not much of a hitter.

He had 111 K's and an ERA under 3.50, but the 5-6 record is pretty misleading on a poor offensive UCLA club.

The Colorado Rockies select SONNY GRAY, RHP, Smyrna (Tenn.) HS. A short pitcher, but not short on stuff, he has 2 pitches that are ready for MLB straight out of the draft. He has a mid 90's fastball and above average curve, both of which he commands in the zone. He has committment issues, but the Rockies felt compelled to take a shot at him - his makeup is a plus and he could move quickly and become a leader in the clubhouse.

Yeah it's interesting I felt the same way. It seems the value after the 1st round lies in the pitching dept and really by a longshot. I think the Reds end up with a pretty solid pick @ #84 and it is likely to be an arm, probably a HS starter or college reliever. I vote college reliever unless someone too good to pass on is still ava.

But man do I hate to see Milwaukee have so many picks in there early to pick up alot of arms.

Though he played his summer ball in the East Cobb program and attended some major national showcases last year, Miller entered the season a lesser-known name in Georgia. Not invited to the Aflac Classic, he ranked behind fellow high school catching prospect Taylor Hightower in the Peach State coming into the season. Following a strong senior season when he hit double-digit home runs, however, Miller has vaulted himself up draft boards and is considered one of the top high school catching prospects in the Southeast. A Georgia Tech signee, Miller has present strength as well as projectability. His ability at the plate is what separates him from other catchers and has scouts excited. For a catcher, he has average power and a chance to hit for a solid average. He is an aggressive hitter but makes consistent contact and hits to all fields. Miller has a strong arm, an athletic body and moves well behind the plate, and even though his receiving skills and footwork need refinement, scouts say he'll be able to make adjustments and improve. He's also an above-average runner for a catcher, regularly posting sub-7-second 60-yard times. Profiling as an offensive catcher with athleticism and plus makeup, Miller's upside at a premium position might send him even higher on draft day.
