Alright, we need a change of luck. Everyone go to the bottom left corner of your screen, and change your background to Reds away, since we are on the road. I think this is going to bring us to victory.

There is a lot of pressure on the young Volquez to be our "stopper". Hopefully he steps up huge tomorrow and we get the W because the Phillies have Hamels going Thursday.

With the lineup Dusty's going to run out there tonight, we're going to need a hell of an outing from Edinson to keep this one tight.

I agree; getting swept in this series would be abominable and with Hamels going against Homer tomorrow...

Volquez needs to continue his all star pace. No one wants to get swept. I wonder if Griffey plays at all tonight?

As a sidenote, I mentioned this briefly but I followed up with mlb.com this morning. Can you believe that Southern TN is blacked out from Reds games? Would you believe parts of North Carolina are as well? I didn't believe it either but its true.

I signed up for their free trial just so I can get the 700WLW feed while I am away, but I had no idea MLB's blackout rules were that ridiculous.

We win tonight.

Figures when griffey is hurt we face couple pitchers he does well against.

Hopefully edwin is starting to climb out and brings some runs to the board tonight.

With freel/griffey hurt now were hurting for KEPP.

My hopeful prediction for the line-up tonight

Hairston
Bruce
Dunn
BP
EE
Votto
bako
Hopper/janish
Volquez

This way Phillips wont have to worry about killing any rallies again tonight batting after Bruce. And teams will have to pitch to bruce or face Dunn and phillips coming up after him.

We need a win tonight desperately.

I like that lineup BG, but you know that either Patterson or Janish is going to be in the one or two spot, if Griffey doesn't play, and you can take that to the bank.

Ugh. I thought we were past the Patterson era. Is there any doubt he starts and leads off tonight with a righty on the hill?

If before the series started you would have told me the Phillies would score a total of 8 runs in the first two games and we would be matched up against Kendrick and Eaton I would have said the WORST we do is 2-2 in this series. Now its looking like 1-3 is likely. VERY disappointing.

Then he will be starting over Bruce. It is in the best interest of this team to root for Patterson to strike out in every at bat.

They should move votto up to three, bruce to two, and patterson down to 8.

Theres no way the reds sit jay bruce now

I dont mind votto in the three hole. When he gets back on track.

3 for his last 16 plus isnt cutting it for me.

LOL!

Anyone NOT surprised? Why do we even bother to have Paul Janish on this team if sub 200 hitting Patterson is going to be starting over him?

Oh well I expect the offense to perform inspite of him and his "dad" tonight.

Anyone else hoping Dusty thinks he's bigger than Jocketty and pulling this? :D.

True, but did you see how he got robbed multiple times last night? He's been stinging the ball lately, it's only a matter of time before those start falling in. If he was whiffing a ton, I'd worry, but he's not. Joey'll be fine.

Nope it isnt marty said it could go either way at this point.

Yes i did see that.

However it wasnt multiple times he got one hit last night and had one ground ball that utley snagged.

The other night he had two relatively hard hit line drives at Utley. The last one was a pretty lazy line drive.

The facts still stand.

Dont take me as i dislike votto. He was one of my favorite players right now. He plays my position so i critique him harding than others.

He's hit some balls well that have been caught, including a couple by Utley. With a little luck, his average would look quite a bit better over that stretch.

My appologies, you're right. That was 2 nights ago. But regardless, he is starting to turn it around. As long as he's hitting the ball hard and in play I'm happy with him.

But to clarify, I'm not for him hitting 3rd. I think he should be either in the cleanup slot or in the 6 hole. If he's sixth, then Edwin is 4.

One of our problems which I think we can blame on Griffey being on the team.

Why does everybody on this team ,except Bruce, think they don't have to run out ground balls.

Pay attention to it tonight. B-Phillips is terrible about it. Griff is the worst but everyone is guilty.

Not hussling really gets on my nerves.

Let me also add freel to the hustle list with Bruce.

Actually, Votto, Hairston & Janish also run pretty well out of the box from what I've seen. But Brandon, Ken, Edwin & Adam are pretty poor about it.

You know, there's a trickle-down effect of having Patterson in the lineup, especially at the top of the order. Jockety's got to get this guy the heck away from Cincinnati.

Don't let Patterson anywhere near Dusty Baker.

Please get hurt, Patterson, please.

06-04-2008, 09:59 PM
As many leg injuries as Jr. has had I would rather see him jog out a ground ball than go all out. He's got a much better chance of hurting himself than he does beating anything out. As for anyone else there's no excuse.

The last two at-bats by Patterson took 2 pitches......TOTAL!!!!!

Get this guy the hell out of Dodge!

Corey Patterson = gainfully employed.

Kenny Lofton = sitting at home on his couch.

(2007 stats = .296 / .367 / .414 / 23 of 30 stolen bases / 7 home runs / 86 runs / 38 rbi / 136 games)

Is there somewhere that I can apply online for a GM position? Pretty sure anyone who can rub two brain cells together is qualified.

what good was going to come from cordero swinging. If we want to keep him in, which I did, just let him take until he strikes out. That 3rd run is a big insurance run. Let's hope it doesn't turn out to be...

Could someone please start a Volquez appreciation thread so we can discuss just how freakishly good this guy is? I've never seen anything like this from a Reds pitcher in my lifetime and I'm not that young.

Why? I thought maintaining two or three parallel threads chronicling John Hamilton's running totals was the more important task to perform around here...

Can someone tell me why Cordero was swinging during his at-bat in the 8th inning? Bases loaded, 1 out, he should have never taken the bat off his shoulder. Instead, he swings and a double-play ends the inning.

Prior to tonight, he had two at-bats in 8 years. There's no way in the world I'd let him swing at anything in that situation.
