3.1 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 4 BB, 1K

Yeah the pen better be ready today.

On the bright side, maybe the scouts will miss this performance due to the draft today.

It won't be pretty, but hey, at least most of us won't be able to witness it.

Your prediction sounds reasonable to me. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the offense has to crawl out of a hole tonight.

For the sake of my fantasy team, if Homer is going to get rocked today...please, please, let him get rocked by Ryan Howard. Thanks in advance.

Homer exceeded expectations today. I hope this earned him, at the very least, a few more starts.

He choked when the heat was on.

After the game, Homer was quoted as saying, "we'd be in first place if I had been up here since Spring Training."

He also said, "we'd have won today if that hack in right field could make a few plays."

When the hell did Homer choke? Was it when he got in his first jam in the 3rd inning and induced a popup to short that should have ended the inning. Or was it his second jam in the 5th when he induced the shallow bloop to right field that should have ended the inning? He stayed composed the whole game even when his fielders were screwing him over time and time again... His velocity was down, especially later in the game, but other than that he pitched fine (He was also pitching on 3 days rest). His offspeed was effective, and looked good today.

Ok. I haven't really posted much but at this point I have to chime in. I am a huge stat guy. I read stats all day long and hearing alot of you bash Homer just makes me laugh... I want to give you some statistical comparisons on Homer vs some other pitchers...

W L ERA G GS CG SHO SV SVO IP H R ER HR HBP BB SO
2 4 5.52 6 5 1 0 0 --- 31.0 44 20 19 3 1 11 20

This is the stats of a 21 year old pitcher...

W L ERA G GS CG SHO SV SVO IP H R ER HR HBP BB SO
4 2 5.76 9 9 0 0 0 0 45.1 43 32 29 3 3 28 28

These are Bailey's #'s from last year...

That same 21 yr old pitcher the next year at 22

W L ERA G GS CG SHO SV SVO IP H R ER HR HBP BB SO
6 14 5.61 30 27 1 1 0 --- 155.2 181 111 97 17 4 74 101

High WHIP, High ERA BA against it horrible, 4 BB per 9, k rate of 6.5 per 9 not so hot... So would you want this guy? This board would be in meltdown if ANY of our young pitchers put numbers like this up. you'd want him in AAA right now. That player is Greg Maddox. I think it work out well for him among other great pitching prospects who was given time to work it out. This season is a wash. Build, build, build for the next 5 to 7. STFU and be patient. In the end I will wager has the best career of the 3 Young guns. You just have to be patient.

Damn just missed with the IP and he didnt K as many as I thought. From the sound of the game thread he pitched well. Hopefully it was just that he was bored at AAA and MLB will keep him sharp. We certainly could do much worse in our rotation.

Not my words, but I was just watching ESPN's fantasy baseball show, where they tell you who to pick up, etc. They discussed Bailey's start against Philly and the one fantasy "guru" guy said Bailey will never project to be anything but a 4th starter in MLB.

Not my words but his. Interesting.

I think Homer has alot of talent. But I think he hasn't been listening and learning enough. But I think someone might have gotten through to him based on the postgame interviews.......he seems like he's changed his tune and is starting to grow up. Maturity will be what puts him over the hump.

ESPN the same ones who go digging for news even if its stupid...

ESPN the ones that show Boston and or NY teams 75-80% of the time even when they suck?

ESPN the ones that keep Colin Cowherd and Jim Rome employeed?

The highlight of the draft coverage is some dudes hair.

Ya I am really going to go on what they say:rolleyes:. Homer's barely 22 come on give him some time. Plus thats fantasy baseball not actual baseball. Not everyone is going to be all lovey dovey with the media or others. Not all the stars are going to be perfect angels (Charles Barkley and Barry Bonds come to mind).
