Daryl Thompson - Top of 1

1. Missed the first three pitches but was ahead 1-2. Foul ball back. Offspeed in the dirt, ball. Weak grounder to third for out #1 on Andrew McCutchen (highly touted prospect).

2. Fastball popped up to RF for out #2.

3. Fastball at the belt swung and missed. Another FB at the belt and he didn't miss this one. HR.

4. Ball low and inside. Called strike on the inside corner. Change up for a swing and a miss. Offspeed pitch fouled down the third base line on the ground. Fastball on the corner popped up to Rosales at SS to end the inning

1ip, 1h, 1r, 1HR, 0bb, 0k for Thompson

Thompson & Wood tonight -- should be a fun night to follow the kids.

Thanks in advance to everyone who does a great job updating these threads. Getting information about the games inning-by-inning gives way more insight to prospects than reading a box score ever did.

You guys are the best!

Thompson top of the 2nd

1. Fastball low and outside. Offspeed just misses low. Fastball touches the outside corner for strike 1. Fastball fouled down the 3B line. Fastbal drilled off the wall for a double.

2. Double into the gap and somehow the runner on second didn't score.

3. Fastball outside and low. Change up tapped foul. Fastball fouled back. Changeup for a swing and a miss.

4. Fastball for a 3 run HR.

5. Missed the first pitch. Changeup fouled back, hitter was badly fooled. Fastball fouled back. Fastball misses low. Fastball lined for a nice diving play by Adam Rosales who dove to his right, got up and made the throw to get the runner.

6. Missed the first pitch. Next one was a fastball up that was popped up to CF to end the inning.

It looks like being removed from the roster woke him up. Last 10 games: .368/.368/.605. Still no walks and the guy is the definition of a journeyman. I hope he isn't being considered for the big league team.

Alex Smit should start getting some attention. 4 IP, 1H, 1ER, 2 BB, 6K.

He's a fly ball guy who still walks more guys than I'd like, but he's the type to polish up. His youth and inexperience may well be reasons that he may yet fulfill his promise. I don't really like another fly ball guy at GABP, but a young lefty (22) with promise should be marketable IMO.
