Didn't he broadcast TV games for the Reds several years back?

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Charlie Jones, the deep-voiced sportscaster whose career as a play-by-play announcer dated to the beginning of the American Football League in 1960, has died. He was 77.

Jones died of a massive heart attack Thursday at his home in the La Jolla district of San Diego, said his wife, Ann.

Yep, without looking it up, I know that Charlie Jones was doing Reds telecasts during the 1973 season and probably 1974.

Not sure if he was around beyond that or not.

I liked him, he was a real pro. Seems as though he may have worked with Wes Parker.

He did have a cool "one and only" voice.

Very good announcer. He had a unique voice that I will always associate with the late games of the NFL that NBC used to carry. RIP Charlie Jones.
