Juan Aquino is a Reds prospect from Las Matas de Farfan, Dominican Republic and was signed by the Reds in October of 2006. He's listed at 6'1" and 175 pounds and is only 20 years old. He pitched 62 innings with the DSL Reds last year. In those 62 innings he posted a 2.76 ERA and allowed only 42 hits and posted a 12 BB/62 K ratio while allowing only two homeruns. This year he's back pitching in the DSL and is again pitching stellar: 20 IP, 14 H, 1 HR, 2 BB/29 K, 1.35 ERA. I'm not sure what type of stuff he throws but those are pretty good numbers and he could be a kid worth keeping an eye on.

The DSL isn't the best competition ever, which is why you won't see most guys ever in the US, but its generally about age compared to performance and Duran is excelling big time right now.
