Big start for Travis Wood. Our 21 year old LHS (do people not realize he is that young still?) has really struggled in AA, especially with his control (28 ip, 18 bb). I'm encouraged by his 29 k's though. Wood's previous start was against Jacksonville (who he is facing today) and went 5 ip, 5 h, 5 er, 6 bb, 5 k.

Wood has plenty of time to get it together. Don't see this as a particularly big start although obviously am rooting for him.

Now, Maloney tonight has a big start. After scuffling this season he had a great outing last time. He needs to keep it up. At July 31 Reds may have an opening if they trade Arroyo and, if he shows something at AAA, Maloney could get the call.

I made all 6 games of Lookouts series in Jax. I lasted till 13th inning on this one. I assume Looks will win because Suns ran out of players and had infielder pitching and pitcher at 1b and Turner just hit homer.

Game was saved in bottom of 9th will great catch by Henry.

Maloney has one foot in GABP after this start. If Arroyo is traded, Maloney will be the guy. Or maybe Maloney is being spruced up for a trade himself. But it looks like he is just about ready for big league ball.

Jax care to comment on Cumberland and if you think he can be a starter in the Majors and how far away he might be...

Also what about Wood, did he look good...Manuel, Fisher...

Curious on anything that you might have for us...
