This was on game thread and thought it deserved it's own thread (if true). Person posting is engaged to minor leaguer.

Cumberland to Louisville would have been simpler

seriously, whats a guy have to prove. He is tearing up AA ball and seems to not be going into any slumps, meaning he has nothing left to learn at the AA level.

I would think within next 4 weeks some promotions will happen once some trades our made, and spots made available. Hopefully he can get some time at AAA, perform well, and be a candidate for a September call up, and a candidate for the OF in 09

Yes. It's true. He left this morning. One of his friends told me personally.

Is he going to AA? Do we know who we got back?

No loss there. I imagine that WJ wanted a touch more major league capable depth, hence the Mackowiak signing. They might also want Cumberland to stay in CF, which wouldn't be possible with Dickerson in AAA. It's my understanding that the jump, offensively, from AA to AAA isn't all that big.

I agree 100%, but for the record, that would've meant someone in AAA being released or traded.

My friend said he's headed to Delaware. If that's the case and Kansas City is playing the Orioles, he may just have been sent up. Not for sure though. Am waiting for a phone call.

Sure, very logical. Perhaps as the deadline approaches and deals for Griffey and Dunn become possible, Reds want major league capable outfielders in high minors. Also wouldn't be shocked if the team is considering replacing Patterson or Hopper as back ups.

The Wilmington Blue Rocks is the high A team for the Royals I believe. That would make the most sense, I think.

Thanks for the update Katee. If you get the chance, pass along best wishes to Cody from RZ.

Well does anybody know for sure about Cody to KC and for what? Is their a release about it anywhere?

Got some info from Cody's wife... They are headed to High A in Deleware.

He can't be too happy about that, it's a demotion.

I looked at the Wilmington roster and there is a pitcher by the name of Halltiwanger who the Reds traded to KC for Jeff Keppinger. Sometimes, these moves that seem to be meaningless turn out to be important.

I emailed the Sports Editor at the Chattanooga Times Free Press. He wrote back and said he'd look into it and get back to me.

Saw this in one of the other threads:

A Royal trade

Before Monday’s game, the Reds traded Lookouts utility outfielder Cody Strait to the Kansas City Royals. In 73 games with the Lookouts this season, Strait hit .257 with five home runs and 19 RBIs.

Strait was traded for a player to be named later. Taking his spot on Chattanooga’s roster is expected to be former Lookouts outfielder B.J. Szymanski from Triple-A Louisville.

Hopefully this opens up a spot for Cumberland in AAA. I can't see how it couldn't.

I don't know how up-to-date the site is, but on Sarasota's site, it says Jerry Gil is on the roster. With Szymanski going to AA to replace Strait, I would also say that's more evidence for Cumberland going to Louisville.

Who's spot did Mackowiak take? I assumed it was clearing room for him.

I think there was an open spot from losing Andy Phillips, but I could be wrong.

Yes Gil is back in Sarasota...

Yes that is correct. However we still have a couple of guys injured as well with Freel and Gonzo I wonder if maybe one of them is on the comeback trail? I haven't heard anything about either of them in some time.

Guys on rehab don't count against roster in minors.

Ah, ok. Well then I wonder what's up then because I cannot imagine they will bump up Cumberland until after his All-Star game appearance on the 14th.
