Frazier is ahead of Soto at this point for sure...I would also have Mes, Stubbs, Alonso ahead of him as well...Just talking position players...

McBeth with another solid outing for the Bats...

In his last 10 outings not counting his when he gave up 5ER in a 1/3 of an inning...

He has pitched 12innings 2ER, 12K's, 6H, 5BB...I still think he has solid potential to help out in the pen...

The Bats with 9 hits in their last two games...

Is Neftali Soto the best prospect in the Reds system?

I wouldn't bet against him eventually being the best positional prospect in this organization. His ceiling is fairly high as an offensive and defensive player. Only Mes has a chance to be as good all around IMO, with Frazier a reasonable 2nd. We'll see but I have been on his bandwagon since draft day '07.

Prospects on the Dayton club, in my opinion from watching them, in order (I think the top three will at least reach Triple-A and the others will at least reach Double-A and obviously, I will need to see a lot more of Soto after only seeing him for one game):

1) Soto
2) Stewart
3) Cozart
4) Lotzkar
5) Waring
6) Horst
7) Jeffords
8) Mesoraco

Bailey struck out eight while walking nobody and giving up zero home runs in six innings. It sounds like he's doing some things that I want him to do down there, and that's a good thing.

I'm much more concerned what the SO, BB, and HR columns look like and how Bailey's getting those numbers than what the ER column looks like.

Agreed. By listening it seems like he pitched a great game, and the miscommunication between Mackowiak and Dickerson, and the throw down to 2B that hit the helmet (advancing the runner to third) sours the stat line under his start. Definitely glad that he went after the hitters wasting no time.

Oh, and his K to end the inning was a curveball in the dirt. :)

I really don't care about Homer's ERA down in Louisville, 8 K and 0 BB is fantastic and it looks like he has been doing great since the demotion. For all the flak he takes (maybe rightfully so) for his character, that kind of bounce back from his major league disappointment is really nice to see. Keep it up Homer.

I agree, the support numbers are really more important to me than ERA strictly. He's turning those around, which is a step in the right direction.

I was listening to the Lookouts game. Dorn's steal was the second half of a double steal, Valaika taking second, the throw back to home not in time.

Lecure is on fire right now. He just may develop into a fine 5th starter.

A light bulb seems to have gone off with this pitcher, he suddenly is dominating and has been for a few weeks. I never expected this kind of performance from Lecure and it is great he's doing so well. Don't see why his limit should be number five starter.

The Reds should consider moving him up soon. This is Lecure's second AA season so if he continues this streak he should move up. Then, with Bailey, Thompson, Maloney and Lecure at AAA, the Reds have a nice selection when they need to fill a spot on the big club.

Lecure is having a great year! Solid last year and has really built on it this year and improved even more. I love his K rate.

Nefi Soto went 2-for-4 with a double in the Dayton game. He's now 3-for-8 with two doubles since being promoted to Dayton and overall is hitting .387/.418/.733 - 1.151 OPS with 17 extra base hits (12 doubles, 1 triple, 4 homeruns) in 75 atbats.

Zach Stewart threw another scoreless inning with a strikeout and has now allowed just one earned run in 11.1 innings with a 1 BB/9 K ratio.

One interesting trend is Homer's pitch efficiency. It seems he's keeping his pitch count much lower than previously in his career. Am I imagining this....I can't find the pitch count by game anywhere?

OK, I'm taking wagers. I say 2-1 it was actually a wild pitch/passed ball that didn't get too far away, but far enough.

If that was the case, it would be ruled a wild pitch/passed ball.

If the runner can advance on a wild pitch/passed ball, it's called that way. It doesn't matter if the play was close.

A comment on Homer Bailey.

When his defense doesn't turn that double play, or makes an error he seems to lose it. He generally has 1 bad inning per game.

This, to me, spells 'immaturity'. And that has been one of the knocks on Homer - his attitude. Bad things are going to happen in baseball. Not every ball will be caught, not every play will be made and not every double play will be turned. So it would appear Homer does have more to learn in AAA. He needs to learn how to react differently to adversity, because adversity will happen. Have you been watching the Reds' defense the past few years? Yes adversity will certainly happen, even at the big league level.

Right on. Those looked good tonight:

K: 8
BB: 0
HR: 0
IP: 6.0

I'm with you, Cyclone, and others. Forget the Earnies. I'm interesed in Ks, BBs, HRs (to a lesser extent given sample size), and pitch efficiency. That's what we need to see from him.
