Chattanooga has roughly 50 games left in the season, probably good for about 175-200 at bats for Drew Stubbs. There is a whole lot of debate on both sides of him, so I figure why not take lollipopcurves prediction from the Stubbs is promoted thread and get everyone in on it.

Make your prediction on Drew Stubbs stats.

AVG/OBP/SLG

You can give more if you want, but this way everyone puts it out there that wants to.

I think Stubbs will put up similar numbers to Dunn. Dunn's HR's will result in Stubbs 2b and 3b. Stubbs will srike out but he will also walk. When on base Stubbs will be dangerous.

agreed, less HR's but much much better defense and WAY more speed on the basepaths

. . . plus he'll save puppies from a burning house and cure cancer; and everyone will still criticize him as if he were a murderer.

.251/.356/.404 I dont care about his BA as long as he gets on base, I'd just as rather have my leadoff hitter have a high obp because of walks than hits. Make the pitcher work and then get on base and be a threat to steal. Just like Ricky Henderson, but not as good of a hitter.

if BJ Szymanski can look decent in Chatt, then so can Drew Stubbs.

the 2 jumps after this one will be the big hurts. won't stick those landings.

Unfortunately, Szymanski looked decent in Chattanooga for only a very limited time. He did well in April, but he's been dreadful since May.

for me, it .234/.325/.395 overall. likely a hot start for 5-7 days.

You've got him at a low of .697 and a high of .720.

That's a pretty narrow range for anyone. .023 of OPS over 200 AB's is about 1HR.

And then you have him at .720?

So you predict he will hit his actual highest possible.

I hope you're right. If he could do that he'd be a top 10 prospect in baseball.

I'm actually more optimistic than I've been on Stubbs. I'll say .270/.365/.435. Not a sure thing, but a desireable asset by season's end.

I'd guess somewhere in the 725-775 OPS range with the usual low BA and low SLG numbers.

If he tops that 775 mark &/or shows a significant bump in power, I think he stands a very good chance of becoming a starting caliber CF for the Reds. If not, he'll probably end up as a quality 4th OF who can play all three OF positions and provide some speed off the bench.

I'm going with a lower BA & OBP and slightly higher Slg than Sarasota which was .261, .366, .406. Something like the following:

.250 BA
.350 OBP
.420 Slg

I think going to Chatt is going to be good for Stubbs. It's a much friendlier park for hitters. I expect that he'll be able to duplicate his numbers from high A even against better pitching.

I had .810. Just missed. I also predicted he'd be in the CF plans in the spring on 2009 and it looks like barring a disaster from here on out that it will be the case. In fact, he may even get a look with the big club this September.

Why not?

I was way, way off, fortunately.

I like that they're creating a little momentum for Stubbs. His progress had been plodding prior to AA, so this is really his first taste of true success. That can help.

I was low on AVG and OBP and OPS and high on SLG. But, in my defense, I didn't think the REDS would be stupid enough to promote him after only 100 AB's. If he'd remained in AA for the rest of their season, his SLG would have increased some more and then I would have been closer.

In case you all wanted to know, I called Jock when it landed on the magic number and talked him into the bizarre promotion...

You weren't low on OPS.

And maybe it's just me, but I could do without calling the front office "stupid" because they made a move you disagree with.
