TRANSACTION: San Diego offered Carlos Guevara, a 26-year-old right-hander they selected in Rule 5 draft, back to the Reds. The Reds declined, but they worked out a trade of Guevara to the Padres for cash or a player to be named.
Guevara was 1-0 with a 5.84 ERA in 10 games for San Diego. He was 1-2 with a 2.32 ERA last year for the Reds' Double-A Chattanooga team.
