View Full Version : Did you hear the Cubs Broadcasters crack on Dunn?

When they were introducing the lineups, and they were showing Dunn in Left Field, the Cubs announcer says, "...and Dunn is in Left Field where he might as well take a bat with him because that glove of his doesn't do him any good".

Bob Brenly or Len Kasper said that? They usually have a lot more class than that...

I didn't hear the comment, so perhaps it could use some more context, but that just seems unnecessary. Especially when you consider that Soriano has booted his fair share of balls out LF this year for the Cubbies.

It's at the very beginning in the bottom of the 1st before the Cubs bat. If you have a replay off of MLB w/ Cubs broadcasters, you can hear it.

I was shocked he said that. I think it was Brenly, but I'm not 100% sure.

When they were introducing the lineups, and they were showing Dunn in Left Field, the Cubs announcer says, "...and the Reds are playing the Cubs today at Wrigley Field where the Cubs might as well just walk off the field because playing the game won't do them any good - they'll choke in the playoffs or not make it - just like the past 100 years".

Wow, I guess the Cubs announcers are just as classless as most of the Cubs fans. :thumbdown

Could someone tell me what was so incorrect about what the Cub announcers said about Dunn?? Or what was so incorrect about JP Riccardi's comments?

You mean you need to know something other than that they are wrong?

I thought it was funny. It was a low blow, but it was a funny low blow.

I'm not too sure what the big deal is. Maybe it wasn't the classiest thing to say, but these are baseball announcers, not ambassadors. Get over it.

How were they wrong, Blue?? Dunn is a butcher in LF and if the possiblility didnt exist of Dunn hitting a 450 ft blast, he would be useless...

Brenly actually makes a good joke ...

"That is the first time I've seen people on the rooftop bleachers stand up and get ready to catch a HR ball."

Will his perfidy never cease!!!

The entire Castellini-Lindner Decade of Failure can be traced to one man. The GREAT SATAN DUNN!

It was a great win today.

Nothing like pounding out 7 dingers to humble them a little bit.

anyone that did not laugh at that comment is not familar with the reds. I love AD more than most but I also dont wear my red sunglasses all day long. That was the perfect comment for AD, he is a star on this team because he does put up 40-100-100 but he cant play LF if his moms life depended on it. That is a fact, JP stated an opinion, The announcer stated a fact. I thought it was hilarious.

My thoughts were, "I can't believe he said that". Dunn isn't "that" bad. When compared to all of the starting Left Fielders out there he's proven to be right around average, unfortunately, the "average" Left Fielder isn't very good defensively.

Excellent point. Left field is where DH's go to hide.

Problem is that seems to be the only way our Redleggers win.

What the announcer said was true. Same with the Jay's GM.
It may be low blows, but they are true none the less.

IIRC, Brenly also cracked a joke about Arroyo's breaking stuff.

Could this be Brenly getting back at the Reds for not even considering him for the manager's job after he went on record last year as saying he wanted it. Just a thought.

Yeah, I think this falls under the category of sometimes "the truth hurts". Or maybe under the Jack Nicholson - A Few Good Men quote "You can't handle the truth".

If they said that about Dunn I wonder what they say when Chris Duncan comes to town..

Relax guys, Brenly has said some critical things of Soriano as well. He cracks comments like that all the time about players on both teams.
