Why do I feel a 2 run bomb coming?

I call shenanigans!

Weathers, high gas prices, rising inflation and unemployment...

I like Brandon Phillips. Especially on defense.

How was he not called out at 2nd? He clearly came off the bag. Did he call time?

RedFanAlways1966
07-11-2008, 10:46 PM
Wow. Weathers... I am tense. Fielder grounds out to Phillips. 4-3 putout. 4 to go.

Why is Weathers in and not Burton?

The Weathers family can feel free to stone me for talking trash.

Hart grounds out to 2nd. 6-5 Reds after 8.

mbgrayson
07-11-2008, 10:47 PM
Weren't people just complaining about using Burton too much? Can people not make up their mind...what they want?......or am I getting the posters mixed up?

No, maybe Cordero? Burton has only pitched 3 of the last 7 days, 52 pitches. He had three straight days off against the Nats.

RedFanAlways1966
07-11-2008, 10:47 PM
Yes. Hart hits a groundout to BP. 4-3 putout. 8th inning is over. 3 outs to go. Weathers suffers through it unscathed.

Wowsers, I'd rather see a baby bunny ran over by a lawnmower than to see Hall face Weathers this inning....

Tony Cloninger
07-11-2008, 10:48 PM
Yet....people post that Dusty is going to burn him out...blah...blah....someone else has to handle the spot at least once in a while.

Maybe Burton could not go tonight.

If not for great defense by Phillips, this game is tied. I hate Weathers.

I can understand why. His scoreless eighth inning wasn't good enough.

How long until the Reds Nation loses their infatuation with Jeff Keppinger? I wish they would sit him so he could recover from his injury and quit playing musical chairs with the lineup.

Junior & Brandon have gone 0-10 tonight with 4 k's combined.

But Jr. had one of those "fundamental" RBI's that you're always whining about, you should love him tonight.

Gameday also suggests that Torres is the invisible man...... :beerme:

I'll always love Junior. But he doesn't belong in this lineup anymore. You're assuming that whoever could've played in place of Junior tonight wouldn't have also gotten that run in. Odds are good that someone else would've.

Funny thing about that was Marty and Jeff bemoaning his BA w/RISP and he grounds out to get a run in. They praised him. So his all important BA w/RISP goes down and he still gets an RBI? Hmmm

Sure, maybe. I think he has a place in the line up, just not as the 3 hitter, but what I said didn't have a lot to do with Jr. I was more ribbing you a little (in good fun, mind you) for complaining about Votto not being "fundamental" because he didn't advance the runner when he hit a screaming line drive.

I know...and I deserved it. Joey hit the ball hard, but as Marty & Brantley both said, that wasn't the job that he needed to do there. A grounder to the right or a fly ball to right is what was needed. But I'll take hitting the ball hard any day of the week over a strikeout. Especially a strikeout looking. Those just drive me nuts. Hence...my fits about Dunn from time to time. :O)

When Fogg (9.12 ERA as a starter) starts....

* REDS have a 4-2 record.
* Bullpen:
>> 3.29 ERA. Not bad considering they throw an avg. of 4.5 innings per game when Fogg starts. Get to see the not so reliable guys on the mound.
>> 30 Ks in 27.1 innings. 1.1 Ks per inning, 22% higher than their average.
>> Two blown saves... but came back to win both games.
* REDS average 6 runs scored per game. Their average is 4.3 per game.

Fogg does pretty well against MIL. Belisle likewise against PIT.
