Between Homer, Fogg, and Arroyo, at least one of those spots is sure to open up in the next few weeks. At the very least, Livingston should get a call-up and audition come September. I expect him to be in competition with Bailey, Thompson, and Maloney for the #5 spot next year. LeCure and/or Jukich could be in that mix as well.

He added just now, he thinks its overrated because it doesn't take into account what type of hitter someone is. For a guy in the #1/2 spots OBP is way more important than his slugging, while someone in the #3 spot, SLG is more important.

I was just looking at the DSL scoreboard and noticed the DSL Red Sox/DSL Dodgers game was postponed with a note saying Tragedy. I wonder what happened?

There's a story up now on the DSL's website, a member of the Dodger DSL team's front office died this morning. For those who can read Spanish:

He seems to hit the ball on the ground more than in the air, which is concerning a little bit. However there is plenty of time to correct that before it matters much. He isn't Cameron Maybin in 2006/2007 bad, but its not good either.

Just got this scouting report on Oscar Castro from Greg Rachac (covers the Mustangs for the Billings Gazette)

- Great sinker
- Mixes curveball
- Fastball velocity tops out at 90, with an average speed of 88 mph.
- Sinker forces a majority of groundball outs.
- Had 9 groundball outs Wed. vs. Ogden
- Sinker is his out pitch, or his No. 1 pitch.

"His potential is up to him. He's got a nice live fastball, a nice sinker, needs a little work with the curveball, but that's why we're here at this level. Once he can develop that changeup and a curveball as well, who knows what's going to happen." -- Mustangs manager Julio Garcia.

I knew he had a multi-homerun game recently but I didn't realize it was the last game before the All-Star break. Overall Dorn is now hitting .268/.354/.552 - .906 with Chattanooga with 12 homeruns in 194 atbats (plus one HR in 20 atbats with Sarasota), but he's hitting a robust .295/.373/.595 - .969 against RHP.
