OBM I have a question on Dorn, he seems to have a problem hitting lefties, has that been a consistant problem for him in the past or is his injury earlier in the year to blame and do you think he will get better?

Dorn has always struggled against lefties. He is likely to be 1/2 of a platoon in the future.

Dorn has always been pretty bad against LHP. He's got platoon hitter written all over him.

I wasn't asked, but I can tell you with confidence that Dorn has always had problems against left-handed pitching. If he could hit lefties nearly as good as he hits righties, he would probably be no lower than AAA right now.

Thanks Guys, hopefully one day he can at least be servicable against lefties cause he kills righties, as far as I can tell.

I don't think you will see that day, but still... he kills righties and they take up about 75% of the league. He will be a platoon guy, but he will likely be a good one.

They ought to platoon him with Hairston or Keppinger or someone else in LF next season if Dunn doesn't come back. I'm not going to hold my breath.

A platoon with Hairston in LF could be interesting for a year until Frazier and/or Alonso are ready (and Votto subsequently moves to LF.) However, I still don't know who would play CF next year. Sorry doug, it's not going to be Drew Stubbs.

It will be Drew Stubbs.... just not to start out the year. I stand by my Stubbs in CF by late July 2009 date.

A guy from Doug's website posted his observations of the Chattanooga game last night:

Game notes:

- Solid outing by Wood after the 1st inning. Settled down and made pitches when he had too. No clue on volocity tonight … gun must have been conveniently broken when Mobile was at bat.

- Watson left the batters he face baffled. That sinker of his is nasty.

- Viola dominant again. You watch him throw and it looks like his is just playing toss til the ball hits the mitt with a loud pop.

- Defense was much better tonight, though no difficult plays for the infield other than 1 diving play made by Gutierrez at 1st. Stubbs robbed a single with a sliding play in left center.

- Great end to the game. After a clutch, broken bat single by Dorn to take the lead in the top of the tenth, Mobile had runners at 1st & 2nd with one out. Slow grounder to Valaika, they try for a double play, Gutierrez realizes that they wont get two on the relay, and sees the runner from second trying to score, fires home just in time to nail the runner and end the game. I think I was the only one hooten & hollaring on that play in the stadium (grin). Be back with more from Fridays game after the fireworks show.

Billings up 4-3. Tyler Stovall is 2-3 with 2 runs scored.

And Tyler Stovall continues to hover around the 1.000 OPS mark. I know it is way to early to make any judgements, but it would be really cool for Stovall to turn himself into a legitimate prospect.
