That's a bummer.

Not good for Burton, but glad they aren't taking chances. Hopefully Coffey will do well; I'm pulling for him. He was doing well in AAA.

I would not really consider a 4.15 era and allowing 42 hits and an opponents batting average of .296 in 34.2 innings as good . Those were Todd's stats at Louisville.

Personally I'd prefer Josh Roenicke with his 2.79 era , get a shot over Coffey returning.

I guess fangraphs was a few outings behind. I'd prefer Roenicke too, but he's not on the 40-man roster. I'd just like Todd to catch the eye of another team so he can add some value in a trade somewhere.

Well, they can back date Burton and he can come off in like 4-5 days so it may just be that. Why do all that work to bring up Roenicke for a few days. IT's just emergency at this point. I'm pulling for Coffey though. He's a great guy and does have the stuff. He like Belise just haven't been able to put it together.

I'm glad they're playing it safe with Jared, but I'm also not thrilled with seeing Coffey back up. Both Roenicke and Herrera would've been better picks IMO. Roenicke has been solid all year, but not as dominating in AAA. Herrera has been a stud at each level....well, number-wise. His "stuff" certainly isn't "studly". :O)

I hope this isn't a reoccurring serious issue.

So is this Coffey's last, final, absolute deciding, last chance?

Much rather have Herrera or Roenicke, but I'm willing to give Coffey an honest chance.

Coffey has struggled in AAA...I would have called up Roenicke.

Didn't they open up a spot on the 40 man roster by transferring Hopper to the 60 day DL?

That got filled by Livingston coming off the 60 day.

Majewski and now Coffey. The Reds really need to bite the bullet and let a couple guys go off the 40 man so they can get a couple serious candidates on it - Roenicke, for instance. Two guys whose only value is mop up duty is 2 too many.
