While I know that the Reds have had their problems this year, you have to admit that they have had some crazy things happen.

-Junior has a fork stuck in the middle of his back
-5 SS's
-All of a sudden, the NL Central is the one of the toughest leagues in MLB. It will take well over 90 wins to take it this year. Look at the last few years:
2007 - Cubs - 85 wins
2006 - Cards - 83 wins
If the division hadn't improved, the Reds would really have had a chance.
-Harang is 3-11
-they heavily rely on 3 rookies

I was thinking the same thing the other day.

No-one in Baseball saw what was going to happen to Griffey when the Reds traded for him. If anything, the consensus was that he would thrive "Back Home".

I remember last season that I was worried about Aaron's arm troubles because he had some games with some high pitch counts. I am counting on a Harang, Cueto, Volquez "Triplet" to pull us out of our 15 year slump. The Reds need to look big picture here and be very careful with Aaron. Don't rush him back too soon.

I like Keppinger, but I don't think he is the answer long term. Hairston has caught lightening in a bottle for a season. I wish we could have this decades version of "Larkin or Stillwell" debate sometime in the near future again. It would be nice to have another 12-15 year SS around. Going from Concepcion to Larkin spoiled us. I'm glad the other 3 infield positions look good for the forseeable future.

I expected Griffey to decline this year. I thought Dunn might hit closer to .260 and improve in some other areas. I didn't expect Kepp to get hurt, and expected him to be a solid average guy and contributor. I thought Bruce was going to be a little better than he's turned out, but I know he's a rookie. I was expecting bigger things out of Harang.

If Harang performed like past years, this team will probably be in third right now.

I did expect the bullpen to be better.
