Edinson really needs to have a dominant start tonight. He has been regressing badly lately and it's beginning to worry me.

I would like to see more of David Ross and less of Bako.

Dunn-EE-Votto are pobably one of the better 5-7 hitters in baseball at the moment.

No doubt, 5 through 7 has been much more productive then 1 through 4.

Very true.

Although when Hairston is in the lineup they've got a lot more production at the top of the order. Bruce just hasn't been a very good base runner.

True, but that is mostly because Dunn and EE are on fire right now. 1-3 has been much more productive lately than most fans realize.

The Last 7 Days:

Bruce .300 .323 .433 .756
Keppinger .214 .241 .286 .527
Griffey .381 .500 .667 1.167

5 to 1, Cook is dealing with good defense behind him while Edinson is looking awful and has a very high pitch count going into the 4th. This game looks impossible to win right now.

So, despite all the horror of this game, one thing I haven't heard mentioned is Todd Coffey. It was pretty much agreed upon that after his terrible attempt to hold our 6-run lead in the ninth against the Padres that he would never be seen in a Reds uniform again. Well, he lucked out, and the very next game played the Reds found themselves down 4 runs with a still worn out bullpen and Coffey pitched himself 2 shutout innings. Not asking if he's now our closer of the future, just if he has earned some more major league playing time.

Dunno when Burton is going to be ready and who else they would send down in his place besides Coffey, but tonight's performance intrigued me about the situation a little bit.

He got it!

No doubt both Coffey and Majewski looked solid last night. It will be a good problem to have when Burton returns. I have really enjoyed watching the Reds bullpen this year be one of the strenghts of this team.
