All-

We were in the process of moving to a new server to improve some current issues, but had to revert back until everything at the new spot is finalized. This has caused the site to be up for some, but not all. Unfortunately we may lose some of these current posts as we may have to revert back to an older (a few hours ago) version of the board. Apologies for the inconvenience.

And here I figgered Dunn was traded this afternoon, bringing down the house. Thanks for the update GIK.

Everything appears to be back up and running on our "old" server for me now, too. I will continue to work with our hosting company on a long-term solution. Thank you for your patience during the downtime.

I checked the site before I left work, and when I couldn't get in I thought a big trade had gone down, and rushed home to turn on ESPN News only to find the only thing they were talking about was the Yanks...

Glad the site issues are fixed... Hopefully today doesn't crash it! :D

The quick reply seems to have the most problems for me

I suggest everyone turning off avatars temporarily. gonna be a lot of new users visiting today, and maybe some new registrations. might speed things a bit.

Do I have posts missing?

Otherwise, I'm losing my mind

Doesn't GIK address this question (the first one ;) in the first post in this thread?

All,

At least on a temporary basis, I have disabled avatars for everyone. I'd rather lose that bell and whistle if there's even a chance that it's using enough bandwidth to bring down the site in peak times like this. Thank you for your patience.

Per our host's advice, things have stabilized to the point that turning back on avatars is a safe move. If you disabled your avatar before, feel free to reenable it.

Was there a big shake-up of threads later this afternoon? I started one about the "win now" statements of BCast and suddenly it was gone and all the other threads were jumbled up.

No big deal really, just currious.

Note that in post #1 of this thread GIK mentions that some posts may be lost due to the work that is being done with the site.

This might be an idea for the future, even though it would probably require Boss or GIK being around at the time, but in the event something major happens with the Reds that involves a ton of people hitting the site, disabling avatars and images until the storm passes.

I think that's a good idea and as long as GIK or I is around, that's what I plan to do.

Is it okay to put our avatars back on?

Just checking with everyone - How's the performance of the site after the change over?

Thanks

I didn't know that the change-over had been completed.

Everything seems OK to me.

I've had absolutely no problems since the actual change over itself.
