I don't think even Milton Berle would steal that joke.

Those jokes explain why archaeologists have uncovered no comedy clubs from thousands of years ago.

I'm not getting the humor.

While we might not see the humor in that joke, the form is something still used today. Often you will hear something rare made fun of by insinuating that such and such has never happened before. It might not be the funniest form of joke, but it's still in use today.

It would be a few hundred more years until the Jews came along and made comedy funny.

Best joke I've heard since the Magnificent Muraco and Mr. Fuji were on the comedy circuit in the mid-80s.

How about that pharaoh? He's so old, he can remember when the Sphinx was just a kitten!

But seriously, folks, what's the deal with all these pyramids? Did pharaoh's parents refuse to let him play with blocks when he was little?

No, really, pharaoh is a great guy...he's always nice to his mummy!

(tap tap) Is this thing on?

I didn't get it then, and I still don't get it now.

4000 years of joke evolution, Larry the Cable Guy comes up with the very same punchline and is considered by some a genius.

You mean it wasn't "that's what she said..."?
