Sox lineup, Griffey to wear No. 17

By Mark Gonzales - 3:17 p.m., updated 5:45 p.m.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Here's the White Sox's lineup Friday night at Kansas City:

Cabrera ss
Pierzynski c
Quentin lf
Dye rf
Thome dh
Ramirez 2b
Griffey cf
Swisher 1b
Uribe 3b
Vazquez p

Originally, Griffey said he'd wear jersey number 17 Friday night, and then switch to 30 on Saturday...with Nick Swisher will wear No. 30 Friday night, then switch to No. 1 on Saturday.

But now: Griffey said he'd stick with No. 17 so Swisher can keep No. 30.

"I don't want to be a disruption to the team," Griffey said.

It's also a relief to Swisher's marketing group and his "Dirty Thirty" merchandise.

batting 7th. At least Ozzie has the balls to bat him down the lineup.

He wanted Doggie to give up his retired #24, but now he doesn't want to disrupt the team and Nick Swisher. The new and improved Junior.

Surprised they put Griffey in CF, brutal for the Sox pitchers.

I might need some help, but I don't remember Griffey wanting to give up #24. I could be wrong thou.

Junior's been the heart and soul of the offense tonight.

He knocked in the only run of the game through 5 innings by either team in the 2nd inning. Then in the 6th, he ignited another rally by knocking in the game's 2nd Run and then scoring the 4th run.

Good debut for him. I wish him well. But, I'm glad he's gone.
