Fay said Hairston was favoring his hamstring late in the game last night. Probably not a good idea his first game back to have a guy with bad legs patrolling centerfield. That's a pretty pathetic bottom of the order with Patterson and Bako.

Sadly, I kinda am happy Hairston keeps getting hurt cause I do not want him being relied on as our opening day CF in '09. I don't want the FO to get their hopes up over a 32 yr old having a WAY above career year.

So what would you have them do? Trade Bailey for Colby Rasmus? Sign Coco Crisp for $6 million/year and let him put up a .320 OBP?
I mean, c'mon. There are limited resources to work with and several issues. Some things are going to have to be left out. Given that you have some decent Plan-Bs in Freel, Hopper, and possibly Dickerson or Bruce (if there's a better fill-in in RF), CF is one position I wouldn't mind them taking a low-cost, high-reward risk on.

I believe that is why Hairston said he was okay (even though he probably isn't). He knows he has an opportunity and possibly a reasonable pay increase at stake, and his hamstring isn't cooperating.

I would be willing to take risk with Roco from Tampa Bay

Not a bad idea, but injuries have side tracked his career too.

Trade Bailey for Colby Rasmus?
If that is actually on the table....um, yeah.

Thats the attitude. I don't think we can win with Keppinger as our regular shortstop so I'm going to root for him to get hurt. :thumbdown

Personally I'd go with Milton Bradley in the offseason. While he comes with baggage and can't play center, I think he's the best FA outfield option out there. Offensively speaking.
It'd be sweet to resign Dunner and nab Bradley, an outfield of Dunn, Bruce, Bradley would be pretty nice. Bruce has shown he can play a serviceable center. Dunn has improved his D and Bradley would be no worse than griffey out there. It'd be ok, will never ever happen, but it'd be ok.

One day Dusty will forget what he is doing and bat Dunn 3rd. Oh I pray.

I bet Bradley will be asking for a ton since he's having a nice comeback/rebound season.

CPatt, Bako, and Fogg combined 3 for 8 tonight with an RBI and BB.
About 3 hits more than I expected.

As I watched this game one of my favorite cartoons skits as a kid came to mind...

Anyone care to guess which I think this reds team is?

I like this idea. He'll be a FA, too.
