Go Bats! Wow, they're playing some hot baseball. Hopefully they can get the sweep. They would actually knock Columbus up close to second then, and have about 12 games versus Columbus left this year, which will be big deciders on if they make the playoffs, and who they would play in the playoffs.

IIRC he throws around 93-95 but I'm unsure of what type of secondary pitches he throws.

I've seen R. Ramirez twice (both times at Cooper Stadium in Columbus) and have come away impressed both times. His fastball according to gun at the Coop comes in between 90-94. However, his changeup is his bread and butter pitch. Coming in at 80-83, Ramirez had all the Clippers hitters off balence and out in front in both outings. I also recall him throwing a curveball a handful of times that came in the high 70s. Primarily a two-pitch pitcher, I believe Ramirez profiles best as a middle reliever but with his continuing success as a starter he belongs in Cincinnati tomorrow to replace dreck like Josh Fogg/Homer Bailey.

OnBaseMachine
08-07-2008, 09:43 PM

Ramirez looked filthy tonight with his slider or curve. I sat right behind homeplate, and enjoyed watching him make quick work on the mound. Sped up the game very nicely. :)

That's good to hear that he's got a good breaking ball because someone else said he's also got a nice changeup. I've always thought of him as a reliever but if his slider/curve is developing then maybe he's got a chance as a back end starter in the big leagues.

He did have a nice changeup as from what I gathered tonight. A few times it hit 80-81 range and came out of the same arm slot.

Roenicke touched 97mph tonight to get a pop up to end the 8th or 9th.

Rosales overthrew the firstbaseman (Barker) in the first inning, but it wasn't "ruled" an error, because there was no "E" for the Bats all night long. The ball sailed over his head and hit the side bullpen wall. lol
