Then trade or move Encarnacion to first, give Rosales a shot at 3B, and maybe with the money saved on Dunn sign Alonso and he's at first in 2010.

Why not just move EE to Left? I think he has played there some in the minors?

The answer to your question is clearly...Corey Patterson.

EE to left would help this club more than Votto to left would.

I wouldn't be surprised if Votto moves to LF at least to try it out for an extended period. Now would be a good time as this season is nothing but toilet-bound, so what if he screws up a bit. If Alonso is what the FO leads us to believe, he'll be here in little more than a year, so that not withstanding, might as well start getting Votto ready to play LF now.

That's how it should work.

I said it before and I'll say it again. I don't think he's that stupid. ....and if he is that stupid, then I wouldn't want him anyway and I'll be glad that we didn't get him.

I am just saying...

apparently the reds are meeting his numbers.. and if i remember correctly he needs to have a contract in hand by august 15th.. soo if not by then i would assume he goes back to the U...

I fully expectthe Reds to sign Alonso, I'll be very irate if they don't. I am concerned by the fact that he is missing valuable adjustment experience by the fact he isn't already playing in Sarasota. This could negatively change his "Fast Track" to the Big Leagues, and maybe alter the Reds future plans.

Don't we have some kid named Frazier in the minors that is our future 3B?

Possibly, but he is still a ways away and there is no guarantee that he will ever make it to the majors.

You mean one of the guys who is going to replace Dunn's production in a year or two? Surely you can't doubt he'll jump from AA to .900 OPS in MLB by 2010?!?!
