I agree, a package with maybe a bullpen arm and a guy like Cumberland/Henry/Dorn could bring a solid return...

I'd been waiting until Stubbs had been in AA awhile before saying this...but since the promotion to AA, he has done nothing but impress. I don't expect Stubbs to be the franchise saviour, but since the promotion to Chatt he has gotten back on track as a solid prospect. I'll be honest...things were getting shaky eariler this year.

Here's to Drew keeping at it.

Stubbs has really caught fire since his promotion to AA. Let's hope it continues for about 12 years.

He wasn't setting the world on fire at High A, but some smart person knew that it was time to move him up the chain. Reds should keep whomever made that call.

Might just be that WJ knows a little about things like when to move players. Maybe he watches development instead of focusing just on the season's numbers as if an ab in April is as meaningful for a developing minor leaguer as one in Aug.

Well, that pretty much sucked by Thompson. I don't know what to make of it. I guess we leave him down there and let him get a few more starts in before the season is over.

It's stuff like this why you don't bring a guy up a level too early. You take a chance on going one step forward, but if you are wrong, it's two steps back. Hopefully this won't happen to Stubbs.

I think Thompson will be alright next year, though, whatever results happen the rest of this year. They shut him down before any damage physically could be done.

I asked that same question earlier. I was told he tried to do to much/reached back for something extra in the bigs. I personally don't buy that. A guy trying to get to the show is going to exert just as much as a guy in the show...just my opinion.

That's pretty how much how he injured his shoulder a few years ago--he tried to reach back for something extra, and then he couldn't finish the season.

It was covered pretty well in the other thread. Can't find it for you right now, though.

Bottom line is that he's OK and next year will begin in the minors again in an attempt to spend one more full season there hopefully. That should complete both his minor league eduacation and his rehab from the surgery. His arm should be ready for him to be a starter in the Majors after next season.
