I'm of the opinion that Votto might be better than Bruce in the 3rd slot. I think Votto brings a better plan to the plate than Bruce does, and I'm concerned that Bruce appears to beat himself up when he does poorly. Votto is a mature, cerebral guy who studies hitting, and I think right now he's better equipped to handle the pressure.
Anybody agree?

Bruce, Phillips, Dickerson should bat 5,6,7. Let the running game play out down in front of the bottom of the line-up. Votto 3rd, EdE 4th. Need better guys at 1 and 2.

At this point, I'd go:
Dickerson
Votto
EE
Bruce
Phillips
Keppinger
Hairston/Patterson
Hannigan

Call up Tonys Guttierrez and his .400+ OBP from AA and platoon him at1B with Kepp.
Guttierrez/Kepp 1B
Hanigan C
Votto LF
EdE 3B
Bruce RF
Phillips 2B
Dickerson/Hairston CF
Janish SS
In the off-season trade for a SS of the future who can lead-off, let the 1B platoon hit second. The catcher (whoever it may be) can bat 8th.
When Alonso is ready he can move in the middle somewhere with Votto in the 2 spot.
