Tom Seaver pitched a two-hit shutout through eight innings, but the Cardinals rallied to score four runs in the ninth inning off Seaver and Tom Hume. The Reds scored the winning run in the eleventh inning when Ken Griffey walked with two outs, stole second, and scored on a single by George Foster. John Denny, Mark Littell, Buddy Schultz, and Tom Bruno combined on a four-hitter in a losing effort for the Cards. The only hits for the Reds were a two-run homer by Dan Driessen with no outs in the fourth inning, a one-out infield single by Mike Lum in the seventh, a two-run single by Ken Griffey with two outs in the seventh, and Foster's game-winning single in the eleventh.

Hey Big Klu, I wouldn't have guessed (in your 35 years ago lineup) that Danny Driessen and Bobby Tolan played in the same lineup. I thought Tolan was gone before Driessen joined the team.

From 5 years ago seeing the name of Dernell Stenson and sadly remembering what happened to that young man that fateful night in Arizona. He had the talent to be an outstanding outfielder. I can still picture in my mind seeing him standing out there in left field.

Thanks for the post. It's always enjoyable to see again the lineups that was; long ago!
