The Reds used an all-Larkin/Boone infield, as rookie 1B Stephen Larkin--the younger brother of star SS Barry Larkin--made his major-league debut, going 1-for-3 before being replaced for pinch-runner Pat Watkins in the sixth inning. It would be the only game of Stephen Larkin's career. The Reds concluded the 1998 season with a 77-85 record, good for fourth place in the NL Central.
