Is there any reason not to just put Carson on IR right now?

I think we actually should have trotted anyone with a pulse out there instead of Cueto, Volquez or Harang, but I agree with your premise.

Trotting anyone with a pulse out there is exactly what the Bengals are doing with Ryan Fitzpatrick.
