View Full Version : UC vs WVU

Some important factors to consider:
1. Battle for first place in the Big East.
2. Night game in Morgantown.
3. UC's strong passing game vs WVU's defensive backfield
4. WVU's strong running game vs UC's front 7
5. UC's strong kick return game vs WVU's kicking team
6. Showdown of two of the nation's top punters
7. Kelly vs Stewart - who is the better big game coach?

Its going to be a great game to watch, televised Sat @ 7pm on ESPNU. I predict (read hope) UC wins a nail biter, 28-27. Thoughts? Predictions? Other key factors?

Going to be a very difficult game. I hope we pull it out, but it only happens if we establish the running game, and seal up White, into making some mistakes.

You jest, but it can be argued Huber won the rutgers game for UC. Both of them have that potential, it could actually end up being a great position battle game.

A couple buddies will be there, and we head out Saturday morning for Morgantown. Any advice on parking? That's the only thing we're unsure about as of now.

BTW, they still had tickets left as of yesterday afternoon.

I made the trip to Morgantown last night. Looking forward to the game. We need a couple turnovers to win this thing. A special teams TD might do the trick too. We were a dropped pass from Jackson away from winning this game last year, but that was at UC and at night.

Park by the basketball arena. Their crowd is the worst (at least a small percentage of them who are nasty enough to make it seem like a large portion of the crowd is atrocious).

Parking there is great for exiting MoTown, however you will you have to walk a little over a mile to M-teer Field. Its not that bad a walk though, I actually park there all the time.

Still up 20-7, and a goal line stand with less than 4 minutes all but seals the win. Two straight goal line stands for UC. Amazing.

Big, big win for UC. They now control their own destiny in the Big East race. At Louisville, home to Pitt and Syracuse. They should win all three.

How about Cincy/OSU in the Fiesta Bowl?

Whoops.

WVU scores and gets 2, recovers the onside kick, and kicks a 52 yard FG to tie. All in the last 18 seconds with no timeouts.

Going to OT. Simply unreal.

Nah, with their athletes, WVU could have easily blocked that punt or run it back for a TD. The odds of what WVU did had to have been astronomical. The players just didn't close out the game.

A win is a win, I guess. Breathe, UC fans. They were clearly the better team, but those last 2 minutes of regulation were not pretty.

I'll say this, good for Cincy but nothing, NOTHING is ever good for Pitt. Ehff em'.

We didn't deserve to win that game. Twice in the red zone and didn't go for FGs? Bill Stewart is a moron. Our record should be 8-1 right now. Colorado and Cincinnati should have been wins. I hate this guy, and I hate Rich Rod even more for literally destroying our great football program.

Not trying to pick a fight here, but if one man meant that much, how great can a program really be? Rich Rod did a really good job, but the disaster that has been this season can't be laid on him. The talent is still there for them to be undefeated against their schedule, they just haven't performed.

WVU definitely made a mistake in rewarding Stewart's loyalty, especially with the extension. I could have seen a year or two to keep recruits, but Stewart is a Dick LeBeau type. Great #2, bad #1.

Nah man you're cool, no fighting here. You are right...Stew is a good guy to have as an assistant and a motivational speaker, but not as a head. Its like I tell my mom who loves coach Stew, "If I want to listen to a guy with morals, I'll find a good honest preacher, but in football I would let an absolute prick coach my team if it meant winning, (which is ironic cause we had one for most of the decade) which is what I want, wins PERIOD at any cost!" I feel the same about the Reds too, hell I wouldn't care if every single Red were Roid Ragers if it meant we would win!

Congrats to Cincy, that loss was tuff to swallow, and as you can tell I'm a very sore loser simply because I HATE LOSING!

The UofL/UC game is probably nominally sold out, but there will be thousands of unused tickets by Louisville fans. If you want to go, don't let the fact that it's sold out stop you. Louisville fans may be paying you to take their tickets outside the stadium.

Well, we just got home as two buddies and I headed out to WV yesterday to take in the game. UC played a phenomenal game the first 58 minutes and 40 seconds, but then couldn't figure out a way to close it out at the end of regulation. Fortunately the defense tightened in the redzone again - it seems they've been doing that a ton recently - and Pike was able to get them in the endzone to win in overtime.

We ended up parking at the coliseum and taking the shuttle both ways, which worked out pretty well. I will say this: 99 percent of WVU fans are pretty nice, but those other one percent are scum.

Here's the definition of idiot: Two WVU fans - most likely students - who probably went about 5' 7" tall and maybe 150 pounds each tried picking a fight with my two buddies and myself in our actual seats. They were cursing at us, threatening us, you name it, then eventually walked down behind us to yell right in our ears. For about 10 seconds we had to restrain ourselves from restructuring these kids' faces (I'm 6' 0"/205, and my two buddies are similar size; it wouldn't have taken long either).

Fortunately at this point some of the middle-aged WVU fans were defending us and telling the two clowns to get lost, because they realized stuff was getting nasty and escalating to the point that my buddies and I were close to snapping. One of the older fans defending us actually hit one of the two clowns in the face, then security finally came down escorted both clowns out of the game.

Ya gotta love it

I was at the game also. Unbelievable game to be at. I went from being terribly excited, to throwing up in my mouth, and then to sheer relief. I agree that 99% of their fans were really nice to us, but I also agree about the other 1% being absolute scum. In fact I had many Mountaineer fans warn me that there's "some drunk rednecks here that'll do some stupid stuff."

I think he was. As a general rule I never give my opponent points. If they block the punt it'll likely be a safety anyway. UC has a very good punter. Why take him out of the game. Kick it away and make W Va pound it in. More than likely they'll burn up a lot of time getting the ball into the end zone. Horrible call from a very good coach. I hope he learned something.

Better than getting your season tickets early, make a small donation to UCats. If the Bearcats can raise enough money for great practice fields, with the help of big and small donations, we can keep in the hunt for BE championships well into the future. Even if we lost Kelly, we would have the facilities to attract a great coach.

The two I've always heard were Notre Dame and Boston College. He's an east-coast Irish Catholic. Last off season, he received inquiries from UCLA, Nebraska and Georgia Tech. He didn't return any of the calls.
