You're telling me Empire Magazine has Donnie Darko over Alex DeLarge? Preposterous!

That thing needs a single listing more than any other list I have ever seen.

Bernie Lomax better be in there somewhere!

Keyzer Soze is way too low...I have a feeling he's going to kill the editors, their families, their neighbors and anyone else that they know...

and Ron Burgandy needs to be higher as well...after all, he's a man who discovered the wheel and built the Eiffel Tower out of metal and brawn, that oughta count for something :)

Tyler Durden #1? The Dude #7? Ellen Ripley #9?

Garbage.

Where's Rocky Balboa? John McClane?

//Found McClane at 12.

No Wes Anderson characters to be seen? Hmmmmmmmm
Still a pretty diverse list besides the five Star Wars characters.

Vito Corleone is too high(sorry but Michael Corleone was the compelling character even in the first movie). Inspector Callahan is way too low.

IMO Vito could possibly be higher on the list, epic character played perfectly by Brando and De Niro.

Durden is great and all but definitely not #1

Sparrow shouldn't even be in the top 100, let alone top 10.

Where is Batman at?! How can you not have Batman on there but you have Blade? Martin Riggs should've been in the top 50 at least.

Sparrow shouldn't even be in the top 100, let alone top 10.

I think his top 10 spot is well deserved. One of my all-time favorite characters.

A few off the top of my head that I think should be on the list:

Clark Griswold
Danny Ocean
Bill Lumbergh
Rain Man
Mick Dundee
Austin Powers
Col. Nathan R. Jessep
All the characters on Monty Python and the Holy Grail

I'm sure I'll think of more. Glad to see Mal Reynolds get some recognition. Serenity is a great movie.

^^ I agree with Austin Powers and Jessup, but overall that list was pretty good. I was just happy that my two favorite characters (Ron Burgundy and Forrest Gump) made the list.

I also felt that DeNiro's character when he played a mental hospital patient when they hospital found a miracle drug that brought him along with many other patients out of their catatonic states deserved tp be on the list, but I can't remember the movie or the character name.

I stopped at number 93. Not because I disagreed with the pick, but because it took me five minutes to get to number 93. Is it me, or is that site remarkably slow?

They should have just put out the list for all to read down instead of making you have to click on each individual one to open up the secret. This ain't Match Game! :p:

I'd have to say that this list is in the top five worst lists that Chip has ever posted. Chip, you need to expand your reading beyond Tiger Beat and Cat Fancy and find us a better list to argue about.

We need our own list- what do those people know about movies?
I'll start:

#100 - Vernon Pinkley, Dirty Dozen

That list was made by Star Wars and Lord of the Rings nerds.

I was in that club for awhile, and even I would say that Darth Vader is not one of the top movie characters of all time.

And Gollum? Are you kidding me?

I would say that Darth Vader is not one of the top movie characters of all time.

I couldn't agree more, Dom. Han Solo is the reason those movies work. I do agree with their ranking of the Dude at #7. No character sums up an entire decade better than he does with the '90's. Kind of a drifter, no real aim in life, no real ambition. I love it!

How about Boba Fet? He was in the movie for like 4 minutes and he is one of the greatest characters in movie history?

Jack Burton

IMO Vader is the greatest character out of the star wars brand. Second best would be the Wampa....... j/k.

Terrible list. It does seem like they have way to many Star Wars and LOTR characters on there.

Wall-E?

Ron Burgundy and Brick? please.

Forrest Gump and Rocky should easily be Top 10. Ripley? Come on how often do people quote Gump?

#11 (Connery)

I actually started to work my way through the list....

Juno is #56!!!

Snake Plissken #71

Jessica Rabbit #88

Buzz Lightyear #94

These kind of lists are generated by people who spend their endlessly waking hours playing Grand Theft Auto while licking Skittle wrappers waiting for adult swim to come on the Cartoon Network.

Yeah, its a tad adolescent. And one woman in the top ten? I'm guessing that's one more than these guys are used to.

Is Fred Dobbs from Treasure of the Sierra Madre on there?

If you had to pick the worst characters from good movies, who would they be?
I will start the list with Adrian (from any Rocky)

Maybe, but Paulie doesn't derail Rocky 2 for about 45 minutes of unwatchable footage.

I didn't even remember who the heck Tyler Durden was without looking a the list (and seeing which movie he was from).

Dorothy and Toto are both pretty much more memorable than Tyler Durden.

Han Solo over Indiana Jones? They didn't even get Harrison Ford's characters in the right order.

Bad List.

They did a fair job of picking out characters, but the order is way out of whack, IMO.

Gollum #13?? He should be much lower.
Daniel Plainview and Hans Gruber??? Maybe in the top 1,000, but not the top 100.

Where's Rooster Cogburn, Jeff Spicoli, Mad Max, Mickey Mouse, Lt. Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell, Carl Spackler, John J. Rambo, Roy Hobbs?

I mean, come on...Wall-E is the number one animated character? I can only think of about 50 others I'd rank before him... Mickey, Goofy, Donald, Ariel, Peter Pan, Shrek, Simba, Cinderella, Pongo, Purdy, Woody, Belle, Beast, Sully, Mike Wazowski and on, and on.

IMO #1 is James Bond. He's recognized around the world, outlives the actors portraying him, and has been copied (and even parodied) by others on this very list. He should win by sheer number of movie appearances.

Tyler Durden? He wouldn't even be my pick for best Brad Pitt character...that'd go to Tristan Ludlow. I'll admit Durden belongs on the list, but not in the top 10.

and where's Frankenstein and the Mummy? Jigsaw makes #30 but Dracula is #87? I think this list was made by my 18-year old daughter.

It did, however, stimulate a lot of thought and discussion.
