Im sure Dusty will make sure he gets more arm injuries after running him out there for another 45 innings in the 1st half of the season.

Quality arm. I'm happy. i think he actually pitched way worse then he's capable of last season and he had a decent year.

Lincoln had a very nice stretch of shutting hitters down mid-season. He just had a rocky start and rocky finish. I think he got in a groove and then ran out of gas playing for the first full season in years.

Was Dusty in Pittsburgh when he got arm injuries there? he must've been, because Dusty is clearly the cause of EVERYONES arm injuries EVER.

Dusty is the reason Obama got elected. ;)

No but running a guy out there for 45 innings in 1 half of baseball after not pitching for 4 years is obviously a great idea. I hope he keeps it up and maybe next year he can get 45 in the second half too.

Lets pass on the negative energy for now.

The off season is the only time cincinnati fans can be excited! Your ruining it.

Good news. I like Lincoln. I just hope he comes in better shape this season.

To be honest I would have given the likes of Herrera, Fisher, Roenicke, and especially Manuel a shot this year.

However, i am not opposed to the signing.

i think this is a great signing as long as weathers does not accept arbitration... needed one of the two back

Good move. He had a quality season for the Reds and deserved a chance to remain with them.

The Reds needed a veteran besides Cordero in the pen, and Lincoln for $2M a year is as good a deal they will get on one. I don't think that they need to worry if Weathers turns down arbitration, I am sure they can move him and a 1 year contract even if he does.

If I heard right, it is 1.5 this year and 2.5 next year, along with incentives thrown in. I also read that the Reds barely outbid the Twins?? Don't know what barely is, but maybe it is the incentives?

Overall, I like it. I think he should be a bit better this season, or at least more consistent. With a season back under his belt and an offseason of conditioning, he should be able to be counted on.

He's not going to make or break the team nor the bank. I worry a bit about the extended use (as many others have commented) after his long layoff but thats par for the course when Duhhsty is making the call.

Now we dont "have" to go after another reliever and we can let the market come to us in that aspect. Now time to get that 3b/LF RBI guy in here.

You may be right. To quote Jack Nicholson, "Maybe this is as good as it gets!"

That was my thinking. It could well cool the Reds interest in bringing back Weathers now. Lincoln faded after a really good stretch--(most likely ran out of gas)--but Baker using him as much as he did, gave Lincoln the confidence he needed, that he still "has it". Hopefully he'll have more stamina in '09.

Lincoln is pretty good, worth the 2 years and 4 million IMO. He had a decent k/9 rate of 7.4 and a fairly low BB/9 rate of 3.1 and his xFIP was moderately low at 4.06. He is a solid bullpen addition and it wasn't an overly expensive signing so overall I like it.

I don't even know who your trying to mock because no one in this thread is suggesting that.

It's a solid first move but we all expect more to come.
