Flight of the Conchords (HBO) has got to be one of the funniest shows out there, if not the funniest. If you don't watch it, you should. There's only been one season so far, and season 2 starts Jan 10th IIRC.

If you've seen the show before, what's your favorite song?

Mine is probably "Part Time Model"

I LOVE FotC, but honestly all their songs run together for me... I don't recall particular titles. I like the one where Jemaine is singing about marrying that one chick that he re-meets in the laundromat and starts talking about how Tuesday is sex night.

Now this is a thread with my name on it. My favorite is probably "The Most Beautiful Girl in the Room" (or Part-Time Model).

"You're so beautiful (beautiful), you could be an air hostess in the sixties!:

"You could be a part-time modellllllll...but you'll probably have to keep your normal job."

Robots is great, as is Hiphopapotamus vs Rhymenocerous. Leggy Blonde is great, and pretty darn realistic. Business time is hilarious, too.

God, I love so many. Robots is a classic. "If You're Into It" used to be my favorite before I heard "Cheer up Murray". Boom King is another good one.

I posted this in the HBO thread, but in case anybody doesn't know funnyordie.com has the rights to air the first episode of season 2 for a few days.

It's got to be "Jenny".

"We watched a movie."

"Yes, it was something like, but necessarily Shindler's List."

"It was Police Academy 4."

Best by far is "Business Time."

Second best is "Beautiful Girl."

Great stuff.

Its business time is the clear favorite.
"Bowie's in space" is pretty remarkable, too.

I forget exactly what it's called, but I always enjoyed the French one. "Foux Da Fa Fa" or something like that.

I'm probably alone on this one, but as much as I love their stage performances, I can't stand the FOTC HBO show.

Their stage performances are a pitch-perfect blend of self-effacing comedy and musical talent, both in a very pure form. The show is a dreary exercise full of strained "zaniness." And the music in the show seems like it has had the soul drained from it.

I wouldn't say I can't stand the show--actually, I enjoy it--but I agree with you in principle. As for the songs, I think the visual doesn't do a lot of them justice. Some songs are better when accompanied by video ("Albi the Racist Dragon" comes to mind), but with other songs, it's just not necessary. That doesn't take away from the humor, though. What takes away from the humor and makes the show drag is that some of the episodes will go a couple minutes with absolutely nothing funny. Pretty much every show does that, though.

My favorite part of Robots is one that most audiences don't seem to laugh at but I love:

"Who said that!"
"...Not me"
"Silence! Destroy him!"
"Noo!"

The first half of season 1 is AWESOME AWESOME. The second half gets more tedious, has those stretches of lackluster-ness, but in the end even a mediocre FotC episode is a beautiful thing. Spread the love.

You know you're not in high finance.
Considering second hand underpants.
Check your mind, how'd it get so bad?
What happened to those other underpants you had?

I've given the show a second chance since they have been running it fairly often leading to season two.. It has grown on me. I gave up on it after a couple episodes when it first ran.

After a less than stellar first episode of season 2, the boys have bounced back in the second episode with what might be my new fav: Sugar Lumps

I had to bring this thread back after buying the Season 2 DVD and re-watching all the episodes again. I thought they were pretty good the first time around but not great, but watching them again there's sooo much good stuff and some great songs.

I think Carol Brown may very well be my current favorite of all time (I loved it as soon as it aired):

I sing 'Epileptic Dogs' way too much during a typical day:

And it took my a few viewings but I now adore 'Hurt Feelings'.

Jemaine is nominated for an Emmy Award....no joke. The show itself is nominated for a few as well. HBO series have a pretty good track record at the Emmys. Could be a good night for them.

I heard the show isn't coming back. I think i heard them say in an interview that it's too hard to come up with new content. :(

Season 1 was amazing bc they had years worth of material that they had reworked to perfection. Look up some of their old performances on youtube-not as polished).

Season 2 was disappointing IMO. Here's to hoping they find inspiration and make a triumphant return. :beerme:
