This worked out pretty well last season so I figured that I would start it up again this year and see if it gets the same response.

Please respond in this thread if you want to be the GM of a team. The first people to respond to the thread with the team they want will get that team. Last years mock started on Feb 29th so we will shoot for a start date of March 1st for this one.

Dallas and Carolina do not have 1st round picks this year but have their other round picks so we'll need them filled still.

The draft will be three rounds, just like last season. I am going to draft for the Miami Dolphins.

ROUND 1:

1. Detroit (0-16) -- *Baseclogger*
2. St. Louis (2-14) -- LoganBuck

I've never done this before, but I'm going to give it a shot. I'll go ahead and take the Seahawks. A team that is slotted pretty well, yet it wasn't too long ago that they were a winning organization.

No trading picks, we are just do the draft as is. Now I have to decide if your link of a Raiders video on Youtube counts as a team pick since WVRed picked Oakland right after you .. haha

Boss made a change to the RZ code that posts can only be edited for, I think, 3-4 hours after their original posting. A mod should be able to do it for you, though.

http://www.redszone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65808&highlight=2008+NFL+Draft

I know Sonny and Buckeye33 did some good drafting, so got some competition there Puffy, also thought BRL had a nice Bears draft. For whatever reason I had awful timing last year, every time I would check in it was slow going so I ended up waiting too long to make my pick. Then when I checked back it was already too late. I will try to do better with it this time around. I'd do a whole lot better if Redhook hadn't already snatched up the Bengals. Hard to get too excited about drafting for a team other than your own. Guess I'll have to lean on my competitive nature.

Last year I had us taking a CB in the first round in DRC, and we went corner in the first round but took Talib instead. I also had us taking Dexter Jackson in the 3rd round, who we ended up taking in the 2nd round.

Still have 12 teams to fill, including the Cowboys who don't have a 1st round pick but do have multiple picks in the other two rounds.

Mario, if Bengals are your team and you just took the Jags fairly randomly, I'll take the Jags. I'm here in Jacksonville and they've just about become my #1 team now since Bengals suck so bad.

I didn't know that but when I took them you were the one person I thought might want them if you were gonna do this draft. I just took them because I felt like I knew them pretty well and what they desperately need. But if you want them you are more than welcome to them, I can go with anybody. As a matter of fact If it will get another person involved I insist you have them.

I'll switch to S.F. if no one has dibs on them.

I wouldn't want to start before the combine, at least...we'll get lots of relevant information there.

Unless you want to do one now and another right before the draft...

Quick Question: I forget from last year-- do we make our pick based on what we we THINK the team would do, or do we base it on what we think the team SHOULD do?

You can draft as you see fit for your team. I personally draft based on what I think the team needs. Last year I had Minnesota and I took a DE, TE, WR as they needed all of those spots.

Highlifeman drafts Joe Flacco for the Eagles last year, even with McNabb and Kolb on the roster

Draft however you want.

I think we'll keep the start date at March 1st, same as last year. It seemed to work out well and gives us 7 weeks to get through 3 rounds. That should not be an issue.

Waiting until March 1st also allows more info to get out about players and the combine will be done and some pro days will have taken place.

Bump it to the top .. We only need 2 more people to fill this thing up.

I will be PMing people when your pick is up so you won't have to keep track that much...

Who wants Minnesota and Tennesse?

Question, I'm going to be out of town from March 6th through March 14th, without Internet access. Should I drop out of the draft and allow someone else to take my place, or is there another way to work around that?

You can drop out if you'd like, but you can also stay in and if your 2nd round pick comes up before you get back (which it will most likely) then I can make that pick. You'll get your 1st round pick in for sure.

It's up to you though. We can't fill these last two spots so I'm not going to tell someone to drop out .. :D

Well how about I stay in, and any picks I miss you can go ahead and make.

And I fully expect you to land a future Hall of Famer for me ;)

Haha, Nah not the pats, the last one remaining.

I had a very solid draft for the pats last year, IMHO.

We're going to go ahead and wait until next Sunday, March 1st to start. That will allow the combine to be finished up and a little more info will be out on players.

I will start a new thread next Saturday sometime with all 3 rounds in the 1st post.

I also would like to check and see if there's anyway to be able to edit the original post for this, because that would be easiest.

Yes, I would like the full 3 rounds listed in the 1st post and then be able to go back each time a pick is made to update the 1st post so people will know who has been drafted and won't have to go through the whole thread.

Let me know if you need me to do anything special.

Thanks Boss.

Hmm, I'm not sure that'll be possible. I can put the draft order in your original post, but we disallow posts to be edited after a certain amount of time due to some problems we've had in the past, so I'd prefer to leave it on.

What about copy/paste on every post (non-quote) to sort of keep a running tab on the draft if we cant edit after a certain point?

Cam you can have the 49ers I have been too busy as of late and apparently I am about to get busier. So I'll hand off to you and just check in on occasion to see what's going on.

I wouldn't worry about it Buckeye - we can just do what we did last year and frequently update. As long as people enter to last unseen post they shouldn't even see the first post after the beginning anyway.

I'll be happy to keep updating like I did last year so you don't have to be the only one.

That's a possibility, but Puffy's idea sounds better simply because he's going to be involved with this thread a lot more than I am since he's part of the mock draft.
