New baby. And they're all different.

Puppy breath. Sorry, beat you to it. This is actually number one, but on day #2, I can't list it that way. Think of this as "I liked E.T. better but voted for Gandhi..."

Summer afternoons after the rain.

Issey Miyake for men.

I had a girlfriend who had a spectacular natural smell - and when she added the right perfume...

When I was a kid, it was the mixed smell of a newly opened pack of baseball cards and bubble gum. Occasionally, my brain will relaunch that scent out of the blue. Wow.

Freshly popped popcorn.

I spent about 20 years in the fragrance business and, at one time, probably the late '80's or early '90's, there was a company that came out with a line of fragrances based upon some of the smells mentioned here. Like freshly cut grass or newly turned earth. It did well at first but I think it's long gone now.

Golf course in the morning.

Spring. It isn't one smell but when the weather warms up, the windows open, and everything just tends to smell a little more crisp.

Popcorn.

Michael Richards was their 'pitchman' for the 'stale cigar' scent. ;)

Actually, I like the scent of a fresh cigar. Then someone lights it and that all changes.. Oh well,......

Same with cigarettes. It's the tonka bean oil.
And a lot of people like the earthy scent of a freshly plowed field, which is caused by actinomycetes bacteria.

Forgot my work shirt for my workout yesterday morning, so stopped off at JC Penny afterwards and bought a new PGA Tour branded golf shirt on sale. It had a new shirt smell (must have been that dry fit golf shirt material) and I was smelling it all day. It was aswesome. I even commented to my co-workers how this smell was making my day more enjoyable. Wish I could bottle that up and wear it every day.

Agree. I love the smell of coffee, but hate the taste. I just can't get myself to drink it. I've tried every iteration from plain black to all the fru-fru ones you can get at the fancy coffee shops (not just Starbucks or Caribou). Nothing helps. I just don't like it.

When I used to work in restaurants, I loved changing the coffee filters.

Fall. People have mentioned wood smoke and burning leaves (thanks woy, for telling me I'm old) and I think those are part of it, but I don't think it's that limited. It's that one night when you walk outside and you smell fall. Same with winter.

And books. new and old.
