You know, I'm going to miss hearing him for some reason.

My High School had a broadcast radio station. In order to be a member, you had to take a radio class taught at the school and obtain your FCC license.
Our instructor had us listen to Paul Harvey each week in class in oder to teach us how to do our weekly newscasts. I remember those classes fondly.

I remember listening to Paul and the "rest of the story" in the mornings on WLW while getting ready for school.
RIP Paul.

Very sad. I always loved his report at noon on WLW.

I mostly remember listening to him as a child in the 1970's. An ICON no doubt.

Paul was always good for a story or two while you drove across the country.
Wow. I knew he must've been up there in years because I remember hearing him as a kid on family trips. He was still on the radio here from time to time and my wife always commented that he must be quite the old-timer.
RIP, Mr. Harvey!

Paul Harvey was a highlight on my radio when I traveled in the midwest. Love to you, Paul -

Mr. Harvey was 90 at the time of his death. I was not the biggest Harvey fan, but I must give him his due. He was a legend and institution.
On a lighter note, I was always amused during the "news and comment" segments by his use of "page 1, page 2", etc for each story----on page 2 or so would be a story about an accident of some sort to be followed up on page 3 by a spoken ad for Sears---- it would go along the lines of "Page 2, a man working in his yard was involved in an odd accident with his lawn mower and pet dog--Page 3, did you know that Sears sells the best in Craftsman tools and lawncare items?---its true!"
RIP Paul, you deserve it.

Paul Harvey had such a distinctive voice and specific paceing that, once you heard him, you instantly knew who it was that you were listening to. He needed to be introduced by name only once. After that he was known forever.

He was enjoyable to listen to, with his distinctive, voice, style and manner. I never really regarded him as a serious, "hard news" source, but I will miss him.

Nobody better than Paul Harvey at working spots into his broadcast -- he'd go so seamlessly from a news story into a paid spot for vitamin supplements that you could be forgiven for thinking that it was actual fact that taking those pills would reduce chances of heart disease.
