For those PS3ers who got The Show, we need to start up a RedsZone league.

Obviously not everyone can be the Reds so we would need to just make decisions on who wants to be who but I think it would be fun to mic it up and play games with you guys (gals).

I have mixed experiences playing online with strangers and typically mute my mic and keep it off my head just to prevent it playing through the TV but I can be confident that I would enjoy playing with the folks here at RedsZone.

Just an update to anyone interested.

Leagues cant be created until your account is 14 days old. Since nobody has had the game for 14 days yet, there's no leagues made yet.

So practice your game and when I get it made, ill start sending invites to anyone interested and I have their PSN id so I can add them as a friend.

When I was trying to setup the league, I was given the option to do Round Robin or Division

I chose Division and named one ORG and the other Sun Deck

It asked what team and i said Reds (maybe that the commissioners team? I dunno)

Fantasy draft, I said no because I wasnt sure if we would want that but we can as long as everyone agrees to do it I guess.

The games are scheduled but you can play the schedule out of order based on who's online.

We cant create the league yet though so I was given the message to wait the allotted 14 days.

When that happens, I will keep all abreast of the status.

Oh man, I'd love a PS3. I have a Wii, which I love for what it does, and it is great for Guitar hero and Rock Band, but terrible for sports games. If it turns out you can do a fantasy draft with an online league, I may have to break down and get a PS3.

I found it easier to hit in veteran. Rookie seems ridiculous to hit. At least with veteran, I can dictate my hitting zone where the pitch is going.

I havent gotten alot of time to play though. I hope to get more time in soon.

I would like to be in but don't think I can do it. I have every intention of getting the game, but my schedule is ridiculous right now so I wouldn't even be able to play the game until about mid-April when I stop working 70+ hour weeks. Sucks, I really wanted to take the bucco's to the series.

I've only had trouble like that once. Most of the time the connection is pretty good. Can you make the league yet?

The mic is so flakey and mysterious. Nothing in the manual about using the mic but people report that the 08 version let you press L3 at the beginning of the game to toggle it on.

I heard you for a little bit in th egame but maybe you hit L3 disabling it? I dunno but im pretty sure I thought I was talking to nothing as I was playing.

Probably could sit through an entire game and try different things.

Not quite sure what it is you all plan on doing in this league but I have some interest. Just pick a team and play against each other for an entire season? How does that work with only a few people in the league, play the computer if it's not a league member who runs that team? Someone give me the skinny and I'll decide if I can set aside time to do it which is my only problem with doing it, time.

I've now played 5 regular season games in franchise mode and 1 spring trining game and still haven't scored more than 2 runs in any game (once) and been shutout twice. Been getting a fair amount of singles though, unfortunately I might be a worse baserunner than Ryan Freel. For some reason it seems as though the makers of this game have made it slightly tougher to play offense this season. I'll play a few more before I start getting mad as I need to work on my plate discipline, I'm Vlad-Esque in this game. On the good side I have had 4 gems with only 2 stinkers on the mound. Harang is filthy in this game and even Homer pitches pretty well, Arroyo got me rocked the one time I used him (vs. the Blue Jays of all teams, go figure). And I had 1 good and 1 bad with Edinson. I have yet to pitch with Johnny as he always does so well I don't feel the need to pitch with him to lower his era.

I figured out the same thing a couple of nights ago. I guess in many ways it really resembles a big league hitting approach. My problem is, I get greedy and power swing when I have one of the big bopper's and usually ground into a 4-3.

That has always been my strategy in games that have a guess pitch feature. Sit dead red on FB until I get one, or see a breaking pitch over the middle.

The only problem really though is going with 4 or 2 seam. I have awful discipline though, swing at damn near everything thrown up to me. Doing decent thus far though in RttS, hitting about .333 as a second baseman.

My PS3 has been acting weird and so It made me mad enough the last time to hold off on playing it for a couple of days. I was right in the midst of a franchise and my PS3 just kicked out of the game back to the logon screen. It's the 2nd time in as many weeks it has done it, before that it was freezing up on me occassionally during Fallout 3. I fear it's already going bad after just a little over a year. Anyhow I'll check it tonight or tommorrow and I'll accept any friend requests.

They update the rosters every Monday. I'm not sure at what time you get the update,though.

It's on PS2. I used to play the game on the PS2. I expect this will be the last year MLB: The Show will be on PS2, as they are gradually making the switch to the PS3. As for how you update the rosters, go to SportsConnect. Enter your username and password, and it will ask you if you want to download the rosters for later use offline. Simply make a file for the updated roster, save it, and logout. Once you are back on the main screen, you can use that file for any of the various modes.

I found that hitting R3 Up is the stupidest thing to do. All thise popups were because I hit R3 up.

I like to show my dominance early on in the game.

Yeah I finally had some success with the power swing last night. My homers with Zimmerman and Hamilton were thanks to the power swing. Those are about the only times it's worked for me though.

The power swing and the normal swing arent any different since online you can hardly ever check swing so if youre going to swing, why not balls out?
