Ross drops the ball from the RF, 2-0 Mets.

Griffey/Dunn/Kepp good for at least 3 bases gained. 3-0 Mets.

How do we know that those three wouldn't have plated a few runs though?

Five walks in 5 2/3 innings from the two of them combined. Problems of their own creating, both of them.

A tight zone, crap weather, and the first outing of the year.

I'd say everyone is due a little slack. It's not like they have the luxury of facing their own teammates the way Santana does. The Mets have, like, a real offense to pitch against.

Hahaha to all the people that drafted him early in fantasy leagues, not realizing he was a one-year wonder. And HAHAHAHA to all the bandwagon Indians fans I have to deal with on a daily basis in Columbus, none of which existed before 1995.

Seriously, you could not find a single Indians fan in Columbus during the 70's, 80's or early 90's. Now you have a bunch of people acting like they have been lifetime diehard fans. And the damn Clippers are now going to be the Indians' AAA affiliate and they have a brand new ballpark that opens this spring. It will just make this more of an Indians town. But there are still a ton of Reds fans here and we like to remind Cleveland about something called World Series titles.

(Sorry for the rant. Hate the Indians and you would too if you had to live in Columbus where it is pretty much split down the middle, but Indians' fans are obnoxious. We call them "new money" to steal a line from Titanic.)

While it's frustrating, that's the major reason I have a lot of faith in him -- for all the talking head empty rhetoric about "veteran presence", this kind of consistency does come with experience and maturity. He'll get there...at least I keep telling myself that year after year.

Weathers sparkles in a great pitching game for the Reds. The offense, not so much. Where in the past we could wish for the opposing pitcher to make a mistake and get this even, now we've got to hope for a pitcher to fall apart so that multiple hits and maybe a stolen base will score a run. I fear the worst, and it's only the first game.

You know, I feel for Aaron Harang. This always happens to him.
