If the Reds win tonight to move 2 games over .500 it will be the first time 2 over since April 10 of last year when the team was 6-4.

They promptly lost the next game on April 11 to fall to 6-5, the last time the team was over .500 before last night.

Plus, they will have swept a key division opponent on the road. We were miserable on the road last year. This would be a great sign if they could pull it off.

Brewers are worse than the Reds at the plate, barely!

I don't hold a ton of hope for tonight. I think Owings may get knocked around some. He hasn't pitched in like 3 weeks.

They throw behind the scenes on a regular basis.

There is a difference between throwing in a game and throwing to the bullpen catcher under the stadium though. While he may have "gotten his work in" he hasn't faced a oppsing batter in awhile and I don't think that lends itself to his chances of success tonight.

I will be the first to cheer for him if he goes out and pitches a good game though.

I'm taking the optimistic approach. Owings is out to prove himself tonight and the team will go down kicking and screaming for this early season sweep. Plus, Braden Looper has some great pitches but can lose control early.

Mark me down for Owings picking up at least one RBI tonight.

Maybe if he were hitting 7th. But he's batting 9th behind a couple of outs.

Good point. It'll be nice to see someone at the bottom of the lineup who can actually hit for a change...

In chat last night I posed the question as to who would collect more hits tonight: Owings or the #7 & 8 hitters combined?

The 7&8, just because Owings won't be batting after the 6th.

Sorry, I don't follow. Owings will bat 9th. I'm easily confused- sorry! ;)

6th inning.

^ Thanks!

Even with 3 at bats, compared to 8 or so from the 7 & 8 hitters, it could be a close race. Hopefully they all get some hits tonight. A 3-0 start to this road trip would be outstanding.

I wish so bad I could make an argument against this.

Not sure why Owings HAS to bat 9th... I would slot him 7th or 8th...

Because Dusty doesn't want to hurt the frail egos of the 7th/8th hitters.
