I just read from C Trent via M. Sheldon and Fay on Twitter (yes I've been sucked in) that Bruce is scratched from tonight's lineup and is going to get an x-ray on his right hand. Its supposedly not from getting hit by the pitch, but from his check swing. I know he's been slow out of the gate but losing him this early for any amount of time could hurt big.

Thanks for the information. I am no expert but did not think he looked right at the plate last night.

Supposedly Nix will be hitting 6th. Not sure how everything else will be shaken up. It'd be nice to see BP out of the 4 spot for a night to see what happens. Not sure I'd like Votto in the 4 hole with no protection though.

I wonder if he's being traded...;):p:

I hope this doesn't prelude a DL stint for Jay, but I agree he needed a day off. The X-Ray might be an excuse to do just that.

honestly can't believe people aren't making a bigger deal out of this.

While others, like me, can't believe how badly you are freaking out.

If he hurt his hand on a check-swing, he probably strained it a bit and will be back in a couple of days.

I agree. I think it's completely precautionary at this point. He needed a day off anyway to try to get his head in the right place, and maybe this was just an added incentive for Dusty to pull him from the lineup. Once he sits for a few days or starts getting the Gonzo spring training treatment, then we can start worrying a lot more.

Well he is ranged from ice-cold to downright foolish at the plate this year. So it isn't like Eric Davis just went on the DL or something.

Bruce is a key part to this offense. He's been in a slump to start, but for the team to get anywhere, we'll need him.

He's OK according to Marty. He said during the game that the X-rays were negative. I'm sure he'll be back in a few days.
