Make Harden work the rest of this inning and the 6th and he should be done, pitch count getting up there.

81 through 6.

I hope Dickerson is able to hit acceptably this year. I've been watching his at bats and he repeatedly swings late. Even there, he swung late for a strike, then swung late and bounced to short.

It must be indecision on his part. Don't think it's a slow bat, last September he seemed to have a quick bat.

He's looked the ball into the catcher's mitt sometimes, he's swung late quite a bit, he just seems tentative to me. Maybe he just needs to get on track, whatever.

Well, everyone has told him he needs to cut down on his Ks, swinging defensively got him contact there, and he put the ball in play...

All of a sudden the at-the-belt pitch is being called a ball. Inconsistent strike zones are really frustrating.

Disagree. Owings shows me nothing. No command. If the wind wern't blowing in like it is he would have given up 8 by now. That ball Dickerson dropped would have been in the street. I see no real upgrade in the 5 spot this year.

It's a small adjustment. But if Bruce's night signals that he is breaking out of his funk, Dusty needs to let him bat clean-up against righties moving forward, and give Phillips a break from the 4-spot against them. Let him bat around 7th and work on not pressing.

1. .741
2. .773

Figure 1 is the NL average OPS for leadoff hitters. Figure 2 is Willy T's OPS. As long as Figure 2 > Figure 1 I'll be quite happy.

Cub fans are so funny. Their team is up by five runs, the reliever gets the first out, then gives up a hit and walks Joey so as he gets taken out, they're booing him out the wazoo. Too funny.

Break up the Pirates! They're 8-6They've scored 15 more runs than the Reds while giving up 18 less. Simple arithmetic. For all the ballyhooing about pitching a defense, it hasn't worked even with a winning record.

Maybe some day. There are signs.

Mike Lincoln is nothing more than a fiasco, a bullpen version of Josh Fogg. Give him a pink slip, throw his bags off the Taylor-Southgate Bridge and tell him not to let the door hit him on the way out.

I agree. I don't know what in the world Walt was thinking when he gave Lincoln a two year deal.

Burton still in? I guess Dusty doesn't want to burn anyone else in the bullpen tonight which I can't argue with considering we have two more games in Wrigley.

After tonight, the Reds pitching staff has allowed 63 runs in 13 games. Mike Lincoln has allowed 11 of those runs in only 5.1 innings.

And before tonight, Burton has allowed 7 runs in 5 innings. Erase their records and the Reds would have allowed 45 runs to go with the 48 they've scored.

Weather will be fine the rest of the week.

Actually had an enjoyable game at the Wrig tonight. Only got about 20 taunts, and was expecting a lot more. Sat with some very enjoyable Cubs fans. Very weak crowd tonight. Worried about a sweep. Our offense is non existent.

I can definitely see what is wrong with Brandon. When Brandon is on, he has power to all fields. Right now he is trying to pull everything, acting like Edwin.

I wish Brandon would act like Edwin. Small sample size, but so far this season Brandon has made an out in 72% of his trips to the plate. Edwin has made an out in 64% of his PAs. BP nor EE are SLG very well. BP=238, EE=275. OPS BP=521, EE=640.

For thier carrers BP makes an out 70% of the time, EE makes an out 66% of the time.

BP OBP=307, SLG=421, OPS=729.

EE OBP=346, SLG=451, OPS=797.

Bottom line is Brandon makes more outs than Edwin does.

I wouldn't mind it if Janish got the start today at 2nd base. Maybe Phillips needs a few days off like Bruce

- Phillips appears to be trying WAAAYYYY to hard. He's swinging at a lot of first-pitches, even when they're practically in the dirt in front of the plate. That early patience has gone.

- Good to see Bruce get a couple of hits. It may be early to try it, but maybe it's time to put him in the 4-spot and move Phillips down then see what happens.

Wonder how many more games Dusty will keep Phillips in the clean-up spot. He's trying to be a "CLEAN-UP HITTER." He *SHOULD* be slapping singles and trying to get on base. He's not a slugger.
