"clean up on aisle 7!"

I'd still go for Burton here. I think he's important to the future.

I doubt Masset is.

Is it me, or are Reds starters allowing a very low number of homers. 15 games, the staff has held the opponets to 3 runs or less 8 times. I LOVE it.

It's going to be a good weekend at the ballpark... :)

I may have sold Massett short this spring. I like his arm, after seeing him throw, I wouldn't write him off for being a piece for this team in some capacity going forward...

Blessed are they that beat the Cubs.

Nice win, Redlegs!

I wasn't very impressed with him last year. To be honest, I have not seen him on TV this year.. So maybe my statement was unfair and premature.

Wow, they didn't do this at ALL last year, did they?!! Three series wins in a row, ON THE ROAD, and some awesome pitching from just about everyone. This was an awesome road trip and I can't wait to cheer the guys on this weekend!!! :jump:

Just wandered in and am pleasantly surprised. 9-1 ! WOW! There will be some excitement building now. Bruce is warming up to go with Votto's bat. Pitching is a strong suit.

It is GOOOOOOOOOD to be a Red's fan !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Give the Reds (Pole, etc) credit, they saw how Masset wasn't getting it done as a starter in Sarasota, switched him back to the 'pen and kept him on the roster (instead of Bailey) at the end of ST

Now he's more reliable than Burton, who would've thought that back in early March when he was getting his brains beat in?

A side bonus, this one was a Pythag healer for the Reds today too...

FWIW:

The Red's ERA after today is down to 4.02.

If you exclude Lincoln and Burton it's all the way down to 3.09.

Now, I understand there's no real reason for excluding those two, but they have generally been used in games that are already out of hand.

It does explain how we can have a 9-6 record while giving up more runs than we score.

Maybe the fat ass cat from the other night has started the downward spiral for the Cubbies :)

Didn't know this, but Aaron recorded his 1000th strikeout in today's game.

I'd prefer to think the REDS started that downward spiral. *grin*

Finally! Some offense. And pretty much everyone hit but Ecarnacion (speaking of Edwin--I think it's time to sit him down for a game or two). Outside of a couple of games, the starters have been very good and the bullpen excellent. If the Reds begin to hit (and that's really my only concern), this could be a fun ride.

Lee was #1000

I hate the Cardinals. Their pitchers give up 8 freaking runs and they've still got a 4 run lead.

The Mets pitching staff is awful. Santana is great, but after that ... :thumbdown

The Reds top 4 (Volquez, Cueto, Arroyo and Harang) would be the #2 on the Mets. At worst, Owings is their #3.

Raise you hand if you had the Reds going 7-3 on the RT...

Yeah, me either, I was hoping for 6-4, happy w/ 5-5...wow, what a road trip. This might be a really interesting summer, eh?

It aint easy to win 7 outta 10 games, that would be a hell of a record for a 10 game home stand. Couldn't ask for more out of the first road trip of the season.

Should be plenty of walk up tickets sold this weekend, nice weather following a very successful road trip. :beerme:

It's far too early to throw the towel in and to give up on EE and Dickerson. Edwin and Chris are two very talented young players, please let's give'em a little more time. :)
