I'm hope they go easy on Bailey next start. I'm not going to get too worked up over 119 this time out, but they need to be real cautious with an eye for fatigue next time out. Bailey seems like the kind of guy that will pitch until his arm falls off if they let him.

Matt Fairel's last two starts:

13 IP, 9 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 20 K

Very impressive. He's worth keeping an eye on - a big lefty at 6-foot-3 and 203 pounds and only 21 years old. The Reds obviously like him or else they wouldn't have given him fourth round money.

OnBaseMachine
04-26-2009, 08:09 PM
He got a good rhythm going with Louisville catcher Craig Tatum and was self-deprecating about Dusty Ryan's leadoff homer in the fourth.

"The one time I shook [Tatum] off all game, it was a homer," Bailey said. "But all four pitches were working for me. My fastball stayed down coming out of my hand. To me, it seems like every game, I've just gotten better."

His previous career high was 11 strikeouts, accomplished three times in the Minors, most recently on Aug. 13, 2006 for the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts.

Thanks, OBM. I'm glad to be here. I'm a Reds fan for the past 35 years but it's a lot easier being a Bats fan these days. I'd have no problem gutting the Bats if it would do any good for the big league club. It kills me seeing Hanigan up there on the bench so much when he could be contributing more.

BTW, I should be at the Bats game tomorrow if anyone wants a eyewitness account of anything or anyone.
