I just got home from the Bats game. I picked a good night. 6-1 victory.

After LeCure settled down he really looked good. He was hittable early but had them guessing after that. His fastball was 91-92 all night and his last pitch was 93.

Kennard hit 96 on a strikeout pitch.

I left before Viola came in.

It's funny watching Gomes and Stubbs trot out to the field. Stubbs looks like a real athlete and Gomes runs like he's in a softball beer league.

BTW, Peterson is still in Louisville as a bullpen catcher.

Hitting mostly leadoff, he is tied for team lead in doubles, triples, HR's, and RBI. He is OPSing about .368 better than the next closest team mate. Of the starters he is hitting .100 higher than the next closest player. He has stolen 7 or 8. And, perhaps the most impressive stat is that he has 17 BB's with only 6 K's. If it is a ball, he takes it; if it is a strike, he hits it safely. As a leadoff hitter those numbers are Ricky-like.

If the switch of Stewart to starting is serious, and it's certainly starting to look that way, I think they'll be pretty conservative about moving him up. The goal's got to be to get him innings first, then push him later.

I'd imagine that would require an injury. Either that, or the Reds would have to move Gomes, Hopper, and/or Bankston.

It'd be a shame not to move Heisey on his timetable for the likes of Bankston, Gomes, or Hopper, any one of which could be dropped back to AA if Carolina needs an outfielder. Another month at anywhere near what he's doing now would seem to me to show Heisey's ready to move, and that's being extremely conservative. Frankly I'd move him ASAP.

^^ I agree with HokieRed, you can't hold up guys that actually have future potential to be big league starters for career reserves with the potential to be career reserves like Gomes, Hopper and Bankston. If you send one of them back to AA or stop playing them everyday it is not going to affect their future 'prospects.' Heck, waiving one of them isn't going to hurt the Reds in the least. Heisey is 24, there is no point in not testing him at AAA with him tearing up AA like he is.

You know, if the Reds LF situation stays this bad, bring up Stubbs and move Taveras into the mess that we call LF.
