I just saw a strange thing in the Cleveland/Tampa Bay game this afternoon. Tampa Bay accidentally turned in a lineup with 2 people at 3rd base. One of them Longoria was supposed to be the DH. So what they decided was Tampa Bay had to give up their DH for the game and pitcher has to bat in the 3rd spot where the DH would have been. So Andy Sonnanstine is currently batting 3rd.

Well Dusty's never done that...

Sonnanstine is 1-for-3 with a RBI double. Joe Maddon is a genius. ;)

Is Longoria not ineligible for the rest of the game?

Doesn't look like it. Gamecast shows him at 3rd now and hitting #3.

And I'm sure that you, like most of us here, are trying to figure out why Dusty didn't come up with that move. ;)

Probably cause he's never had to manage with a DH.

Good point. But, as I'm sure you know, you don't need a DH to install two guys at 3rd base in the same lineup. Think of the havoc you would reap on the other team's lineup!

Except for inter-league play when his team was in the AL park, of course.

It would be quite effective if Micah is pitching. :O

I remember Pete Rose as manager having a lineup mistake.
