I wonder if the plan is for him to remain a starter for now?

He will be starting the second game of a double header on Friday.

According to the stats on minorleaguesplits.com, between Texas Tech, Dayton and Sarasota, Stewart pitched roughly 75 innings. Currently he already has hurled about 42 innings in 2009. If he continues to start he is going to obliterate that 75 innings mark this season. Do you think the Reds will shut him down early? Do you think after a couple more starts it is back to the bullpen for Stewart? How many innings are they going to end up letting this kid pitch in '09? Is this much ado about nothing? Where can I find a life? =)

Innings certainly is one thing, but one thing I have noticed with Stewart is that he has been incredibly pitch efficient this season as a starter. He is probably due for 105-110 innings this year. I honestly wouldn't stress if he went over that, because he was a starter in JC and likely had an innings limit over that 75 innings mark that he hit last year.

My guess is they let him pitch somewhere between 100 and 120 innings... you got to stretch him out if you think he can start someday... hes already in AA.
